I would like to hear why the company should or should not reopen MCI? Did the company and the TWU treat the former TWA employees properly, why or why not?

Most understand that it can't be reopened, I don't know why this is a subject in continuing. Why would they open the old hangars just to close them again when the checks are complete. Answer this: Would you really move the whole system back to MCI only to move the system again when the checks are done. It wouldn't stay open for very long with just the work they are outsourcing. Be realistic, learn to live in the new place and adapt. You chose to move in the first place other than stay in KC, and possibly work for Frontier or whatever that is now in the hangars.

Spoken like a true twu member. Don't forget they are outsourceing the work but never mind that. And why could they not reopen it ?

Buck what do you think? Have you heard anything in Tulsa about the possibility of re-opening MCI ? Thanks

FYI. It is not going to happen. Per my local, the work is going to TIMCO in the next couple of weeks.

Wow you sound glad you would rather have the work outsourced vs use the superhangers ??

AA is no more likely to reopen MCIE as it is to bring the AB6 fleet out of retirement. With a mainline fleet no larger than before the TWA asset purchase, AA no longer had any need for the old TWA maintenance base.

Give it up already. Argue for Tulsa, AFW, LGA, ORD, DWH to do the work, but give up the MCI idea, move on, it is closed.

AA's fleet is actually about 15% smaller vs. 2000. And AA was doing just fine with the two bases they had.

In 2000, AA had around 715 aircraft, give or take a couple.

As of the last 10-K, they had around 620, including what's left of the TWA fleet.

Any truth to the rumor, that the hangers at MCI were/are falling apart and need to much upgrades and just plain maintenance?

No what prompted the question was the former TWA mechanics I am working with believe that it is the answer to the outsourcing issue.
