Getting Ugly In Phl

I hate to throw some water on your post about the ACARS stuff..

US removed the CMT terminals you speak of several years ago.. It was a great idea that never left the ground.. No US Aircraft has a CMT in the cabin connected to the ACARS MU anymore.. None, zippo, nada..

US Airways uses ACARS extensively on its fleet.. Thats why they get so uptight when it does not work!!!

And take my word for it, US Leadership in the past was great at reinventing the wheel only to turn it into a triangle!!

90% of the PHL ramp looks forward to the day when we have "no excuses"!
All we've ever asked for are the tools to do our job. A request that AC has repeatedly denied! However, he is quick to blame us when something goes bad!

The other 10%.....well, management won't fire any new hires because it's too hard to replace them.
So we just have to suck it up. (Another kick in the nuts.)

Crushed, this is an opportunity to put AC in the hot seat with DP. He no longer reports to the same people he did...if you document your formal requests for whatever it is you need to make PHL run smoothly..AC will have to answer to DP for his actions or lack thereof. The beancounters do not want to lose PHL as it's a huge revenue-generator, We are already fighting with WN over those $$ in PHL. Make your case known (again) to the new management...if necessary, copy any correspondence with AC to DP...and let DP deal with AC.

I reinterate- PHL is PHL, not USeast.
The rest of us are pretty normal, especially the Southern Division.

The Philly factor has been festered by the Al's.

Both Hemenway & Crellin could have addressed the bad equipment and short staffing a long time ago. Unfortunately for US, Doug has taken both of these characters on and US is forced to go on same as usual. The company has an agreement to the CBA and should follow it. How Doug adresses the Philly factor will be interesting to see..

I think dumping the Al's and taking Philly head on might be a start...........

I don't think many of you understand what was actually going on in PHL. These trainers, ramp supervisors(management), were actually lurking around the a/c waiting for an opening and then jumping in to load mail and freight when they thought no one was looking. This was not critical to the operation as it was occuring over an hour before departure time. They were laughing about it until they were caught. Then they accused a lead of cursing at them, when that clearly didn't happen. He just asked them not to load the a/c anymore. Station management also asked them not to do fleet service work any more and they agreed, however, they continued to do the work. Finally, last night it came to a head. They were caught again doing FSA work and the union chairman hit the roof. Today, they are no longer in PHL!

These guys repeatedly and willfully violated the CBA, station management directives, and probably their own former HP rules by doing what they did.

They should never have antagonized the PHL agents- bad move.

Yeah, it's not too hard to imagine managers lurking around the ramp for 5 days waiting for the chance to pounce into a hot cargo hold for no good reason other than to yank the chain of some rampers.
Yeah.

Imagine what the customers would say if this got reported? They would say, cut the crap, and run the airline, or I'll go fly someone else.

they already have en masse.....

Since noone lost any money (none was sent home) as a result of these guys helping out, all you can distill from this is some "get even" attitude that the union has with management (any management) to put them on notice that the union won't be played with. They have a need to regain the pride they lost over the past few years and if it has to come out of the hide of HP employees or customers or even their own futures, then so be it.

I would expect little latitude from the HP supervisors over any insubordination by US east employees.

You don't seem to get it. The HP sup's WERE sent home. BTW, no insubordination by fleet service.

You say that as if you take pride and satisfaction in losing those customers.
