Did everyone see the CBS posting that they had for GHOST RIDERS? They want to get flight attendants to do the job and perform check rides. Isnt that a management job? Should a fellow Flight attendant write up another flight attendant? AND, what does the COMPANY do with said, ghost rider reports? Do they dicipline on the WEST side? Anyone?
Is this intimidation coming EAST? Or is it productive?

COMMENTS????

The way I interpreted it was that the information gathered would be used for coaching and not for dispensing discipline. However, how a program starts and what it changes into are two different things.

Not sure how I feel about this.

I also saw that if you want to apply for this job you are responsible for getting to and from CLT for the interview and if you have stay overnight you pay for your hotel room.

Looking at it from the outside, I think that the idea of checking on quality is a good one, but using FAs to do it is dopey. Yes, they would know all the procedures and what should be done intimately, but it is a big potential cause for strife. Get outsiders...or ex-FAs...or management to do it. Heck, the average CP, with a little coaching, would be familiar enough with procedure to do a decent job. Get Piney to do it.

I'll volunteer.

Until the company comes out with one service procedure for inflight instead of two, it is stupid to even think about ghost riding anyone.

COMMENTS????

My two comments are these....

ONE: TYPICAL of an extremely "top down" managed company. (These people in Tempe are taking lessons from Bentonville, AR?)

TWO: I was taught, a long, long time ago, "try to catch people doing things right, coach them on the good side of what they are doing and constructively minimize what they are doing wrong in order to change it."

Somehow, I very seriously doubt that's how it will come off with US....if they are doing this.

These are non-punitive "ghost rides". Don't go freakin out here. Why would you be intimidated about doing your job correctly?

This is true. They have "ghost riders" here in the west. They don't tell us this, but they do document them. They are not flight attendants, but work in different departments. They don't write you up, but they do compile information about our "weakness" and "strengths". They are usually traveling on positive space or company business.

hehe.. I can't wait for the ghost riders to get stuck in the last row of Y on the A330's on the east.

I can see the report now.

"CANT BREATHE... LEGS NUMB.... HEAD HURTS... DELIRIOUS... TV IN FACE... EYES HURT.... TOES TINGLING.. wait, no those are my fingers. I can't even see my toes"

sky high states: Interesting how everyone has their own interpretation of "correctly". 109UW. If they use it constructively, fine. But, since this marriage has been announced, I havent heard any positive interaction between the employees/management on the west. They DONT CARE about seat pitch to Europe, broken this and that, MEL stickers all over the place, yet, they CARE about "non-punitive" write ups! Would that write up INCLUDE, someone sitting in the last row of seats?.....reading the newspaper during down times?.....giving the full can of soda? Not lifting a rollaboard into the overhead?

when does non-punitive change to disciplinary action? 3nd or 4nd GHOST RIDE?

I am fine with this. Do you know how many times I have been on flights to the west coast from PHL and it was a F'n push pull? Do you feel that this is acceptable? I understand we're all on pay cuts and working harder but a 5 hour flight with one bev service with BOB and thats it? Only to have the f/a in the back sipping coffee or whatever they want for 5 hours? Some are lazy as hell. Also the new service guidelines should and I say SHOULD be out for January. There will be Inflight Standards Coaches who will "coach" on the new svc and Observation riders who will be flying as a passenger to watch. It's not about discipline but showing how service is to be done. Does anyone ever get the "well on my last flight" comment from a customer? I know some like to shine and do a stellar job but do the service as it's written and it's the same across the board. It takes the guess work of how Monica flying "B" want to do the service. I go with the flow when working but like to keep it simple. We complain about what management does but like to be "our own" managers when working. I think many don't even know the service flows since the codes disappeared off the trip sheets.

I fully agree with you on this! How bout 8 1/2 hours to Paris with a push/pull dinner service? The crew then dissappeared for 6 hours. Literally. I really think a ghost rider program is long overdue.
