What's new

Gingrich in 2012

Unless I misread something I do not even see how it is a federal issue. The money was given to AIG. Since it as not give with any stipulations as to how it was used (stupid in my opinion) AIG can use the funds as they see fit. How do you see this as a conflict between church/state?

Maybe call TMLC at this number and you can tell them where they are going wrong.

It apears that Newt has dug himself a very deep hole. Not a good thing this early on.

Any other politician and I agree and say "Stick a fork in him, he's done". Thing with Newt is he is one of the most articulate politicians I've ever heard. I don't particularly like him and have no plans to vote for him. However he is very very slick and I don't mean that in the sleaze ball kind of way.

Years back when he taught at some college they used to broadcast his classes on C-Span I think. I was really impressed with his grasp of the topics which IIRC was US History. In some ways his comment were accurate if not all that wise and if you follow his history he has an tendency to say what's on his rather fertile mind without filtering it through impact wise.

Put another way, If his ex-wife's brother was a GA State Trooper, Newt could talk his way out of the ticket.

Have you been listening to what he's been saying? That razor sharp intelect of his seems to be unable to make up it's mind on where to stand on certain issues.

Just when you think the republicans have hit rock bottom for the candidate pool, they manage to prove you wrong.

Wrong number?
Michele Bachmann on Friday said she felt a "calling" to run for president - a statement that seems to suggest she will follow through on her suggestion that she will announce a presidential bid in June.

Might as well just give the Dems the election on a golden platter while your at it. I do not really follow the republican candidates all that much but surely there has to be a person among the ranks that is acceptable to the average conservative republican and the independents who is not bat chit crazy? Can't yo guys find another 2000 McCain?

Hey clueless, heres a reality check for you:

Given a choice between Barack Obama and an unnamed Republican, 43% of registered voters say they are more likely to vote for Obama and 40% are more likely to vote for the Republican. This is essentially unchanged from April and February, when voters' preferences were evenly split.

Obama is going to lose.

I hope that the Democrats run Obama.

I hope that the Democrats don’t have any second thoughts about running Obama for re-election in 2012.
Why would we want to run against a fresh face? In Obama we have a candidate with a record that includes:

  • 20% under/unemployment.
  • $4.00 - $5.00 gasoline.
  • Skyrocketing food prices.
  • Dropping home prices with record number of people underwater in their mortgages.
  • Skyrocketing deficits measured in trillions, not billions.
  • ObamaCare that most people hate.
  • Promises of higher taxes.
  • Medicare going bankrupt.
  • Social security going bankrupt.

This is a president who can’t run on his record.

Who wants another 4 years of what we have just gone through?

Why would we want to see the Democrats put anyone else up?

I pray to god that Michele Bachman runs. I can't wait for it to pointed out that while she talks about socilaism and governement handouts her own family has recieved $250K in farm subsidies. Just to see her eyes dart around the room looking for a way out would be worth the price of addmission. 🙂

Now Rick Perry is saying he will consider running for Pres. First he has to figure out how to explain a $27B debt run up under republican leadership for the last 10 years. One excuse they have been using is the immigration problem. Only problem with that lie is that the Mexican population has actually gone down in TX......OOppps. Why do the republicans keep trying to pretend they are better at small government/budget than dems are? They both suck at it.

Allow me to state for the record I'm not a giant fan of Rush Limbaugh. HOWEVER if you use the "A broken clock is right twice a day" logic you may find this excerpt enlightening as I think his observations in this case are spot on. I've bolded some stuff that really stood out to me.

“You know the effect that she has on establishment Republican people,” Limbaugh continued. “They’re just as frightened in their own way as the Democrats are of Palin and one thing I think is inescapable — particularly in looking at the Democrats — the Democrats and the media will always tell you who they are afraid of by virtue of who they spend time trying to destroy.”

By the same token, when Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels was flirting with getting in, The Washington Post and The New York Times were saying “this is the one Obama really fears,” trying to goad him into the race, Limbaugh said.

“It was really convoluted thinking — but the bottom line is she scares them — she also scares the Republican establishment,” he said. “But so does some other potential Republican candidates.”

Van Susteren asked which other conservative candidates are feared.

Limbaugh cited former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, noting, "Bachmann especially. Anybody who is tea party oriented is going to send some chills down the spines of both Democrat and Republican establishments. There’s something about the tea party that frightens them and I think it’s the direct connection with the American people.”

The GOP establishment considers the tea partyers outsiders who are upsetting the entire Washington power and social structure, Limbaugh said .

“They’re outsiders — they’re not considered genuine political professionals,” he said. “By definition: Tea party people, in many cases, have never even been involved in politics. They started going to town hall meetings a couple of summers ago and simply have come to life because they don’t like the direction the country is going.”

The GOP establishment has a “message problem” because of fear and a belief that moderate is the way to go, Limbaugh said.

“And I think that’s always going to be a problem with the Republicans until there is a nominee who is conservative — who is proud conservative, who is passionate conservative — and doesn’t need note cards, and doesn’t need a prompter and can’t wait to talk to people about it.”

Limbaugh added that the reason there was so much excitement for Donald Trump before he ended his flirtation with a 2012 run was because he was taking it to them on the future of the country.”

Obama is beatable because he has taken the moderate tack, he said.

By all means run with that theory. If you do, I guess we will find out how it works in 2012.

I like the clock analogy. How ever in this case I think Rush is a digital clock and the battery is dead.

And so all the dems have is what? Obama? That's it? No one else? Are they that stupid?
