Gingrich in 2012

Gingrich's Campaign Manager, Top Aides Resign

Thursday, 09 Jun 2011 03:02 PM

WASHINGTON (AP) — The entire top echelon of Newt Gingrich's presidential campaign resigned on Thursday, a stunning mass exodus that left his bid for the Republican nomination in tatters. Gingrich publicly shrugged off the defections, vowing defiantly to remain a candidate.

"I am committed to running the substantive, solutions-oriented campaign I set out to run earlier this spring," the former House speaker said in a posting to his Facebook page. "The campaign begins anew Sunday in Los Angeles."

Rick Tyler, Gingrich's spokesman, said that he, campaign manager Rob Johnson and senior strategists had all quit, along with aides in the early primary and caucus states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

And so all the dems have is what? Obama? That's it? No one else? Are they that stupid?

Well, according to the latest independent polls, Mitt Romney is far and away the leading candidate for the Republican nomination, and the polls show that he would draw less than 40% of the votes in a head to head with Obama. Is that all you got? Are you that stupid?

Actually, I'm praying for a Gingrich or Huckabee/Palin or Bachmann ticket. I don't care whose the Presidential or Vice-Presidential candidate. They can settle it with one-potato, two-potato. Just some combination of those 4.

The looney preacher in California was sort of right. There was a partial rapture on May 21st. All credible Republican candidates disappeared from the Earth. (The preceding funny courtesy of Andy Borowitz.)

For the RNC's sake, I hope the real RNC candidate has not made him/her self known yet. Romney is already taking heat from both sides. Limbaugh is skewering him on the global warming comment. He is taking heat on the universal healthcare that he will not even talk about. Then there is the Mormon thing not that it makes a difference but Christians are not very tolerant of other religions. Then again, I cannot think of any religion that is tolerant of other religions. They all think they are 'the one' and make sit difficult to allow for the idea that someone else may be right.

This should be a very interesting year and a half. Jim, I seriously doubt that any of your dream candidates will have a snow balls chance in TX. It will be funny to watch all the cat fights. I read an article the other day talking about how Bachmann wants to differentiate her self from Palin. She is trying to portray her self as not being as crazy as Palin is and a smarter candidate.

I'm guessing the comedians are going to have a field day this election cycle.

I would like to see an 'early' Palin/Bachmann campaign. I'm sure it would be pure comedy until someone (anyone  ) else stepped in. 😀

By all means run with that theory. If you do, I guess we will find out how it works in 2012.

I like the clock analogy. How ever in this case I think Rush is a digital clock and the battery is dead.

If the DNC had nothing to fear from Palin they wouldn't be spending money trying to ruin her.....

OTOH, Palin may be doing her gig thus making DNC waste precious campaign funding now....... 😉

Actually, I'm afraid that The Coiffure (aka, Gov. Perry of Texas) is going to end up as the Repub candidate in the end. He is capable of sounding sane when he want to. He is also capable (even more so than most politicians) of lying through his perfect teeth. In Texas, kids have to pass the TAKS test (Texas Assessment of Knowlege and Skills) in order to get a high school diploma. The Coiffure (Molly Ivin's pet name for him because at outdoor events he always seems more concerned with whether or not the wind is messing up his hair than in listening to others speak) brags about how they have raised the percentage of students passing the test during his reign as governor.

Which is true. However, they did not do this by improving the schools, getting better teachers, or getting the parents to quit watching American Idol long enough to see that the kids did their homework. They did this by lowering the passing score from 65 to 50.

His latest leadership along with the Republican-dominated state legislature in the education field was to cut $4 billion dollars from the state funding for public schools rather than tap into the HUGE state "rainy day fund." But, never fear, they put into the bill that no school district could enlarge class sizes, fire teachers, or reduce school days in order to make up the funding cuts. The Legislature and the Coiffure could now brag that they held the line on taxes, and reduced the state budget. Basically, what the Legislature was doing was forcing the school boards to raise taxes locally to pay for the cuts. Fortunately, a filibuster by a lone, female Democratic state senator has squashed that plan.

And, for those of you who like to think of Republicans as tough on unnecessary spending...Texas has a lovely, old Governor's Mansion built int the 1800's. It was partially destroyed in an arson fire in 2008. The Coiffure and family moved to a multi-million dollar home on a lake outside of Austin which is paid for by the state's taxpayers at the rate of $11,000/month. The Governor's Mansion has long since been repaired and restored. However, the governor and family are still living in the $11,000/month rental because it seems the Governor's Mansion is totally inadequate for their needs. When asked about it, the governor insists that where he lives is no one's business but his--even though the taxpayers are picking up the tab.

He will have to expin how TX ended up withal $27 billion deficit withal republican senate. Most of that debt accrued under him or Bush. Will make for an interesting conversation.

Can't wait till all of Gingrich's flip flops start to come out since he is now rising in the polls. I think it's just a matter of time till he follows Bachmann, Perry, Cain, Trump, Palin, Huntsman .....

“Any ad which quotes what I said on Sunday is a falsehood.”

“We don’t have to send troops. All we have to do is suppress his air force, which we could do in minutes.” -FOX News, March 7

“If they’re serious about protecting civilians, you can’t do that from the air. Qaddafi is going to use light infantry, he’s going to use his secret police. He’s going to be in the cities, he’s going to be inside buildings. You’re not going to be able to do that with air power. This is a fundamental mistake. And I think is a typical politician’s over-reliance on air power.” -FOX News, March 24

I looked up several of the quotes and they seem to be real.

So Gingrich is done. Who is next?

If ol' Newt were flying with his life's history, he'd probably be payin' $ 5 G's for Checked BAGGAGE !!

I t doesn't really matter who gets the Republican nod to face Nobama next year. His Do-nothing, spend-everything ways are coming to an end and the independents, who put him into office, have realized the magnitude of that mistake and at this point would welcome even the likes of PeeWee Herman, instead of giving this Marxist a second term !

Illiterate rants about Obama are all the Republicans have left.

Do they issue blinders to all Liberal Demorats ?

Hate to break the news to you pal but, the Republicans aren't the only ones ranting about the "Anointed One" !

From the Obama administration head cheerleader:

“What are we trying to do in this administration? Why does he want a second term? Would he tell us? What’s he going to do in the second term? More of this? Is this it? Is this as good as it gets? Where are we going? Are we going to do something the second term? He has yet to tell us. He has not said one thing about what he would do in the second term. He never tells us what he is going to do with reforming our healthcare systems, Medicare, Medicaid, how is going to reform Social Security. Is he going to deal with long-term debt? How? Is he going to reform the tax system? How? Just tell us. Why are we in this fight with him? Just tell us, Commander, give us our orders and tell us where we’re going, give us the mission. And he hasn’t done it.
