The church has historically been closely involved with social justice issues, including labor rights.

All the pearl clutching in the world won't change that.

Dr. King was a supporter of labor as much as it could lift people of color out of poverty and to a life of equality.
That's a stance that's very relevant to the DL workforce.

The only propaganda is from you, who took the money and ran from DL. The graphic was clearly labeled from the Daily Kos. You left DL over eight years ago, and aren't current nor active, but hey you know it all and speak for all of Inflight and ACS. You cant refute what is posted so you go off on tangents to distract from the topic and issue at hand.

Trying to push aside Dr. King's support and contributions to the labor movement is just ridiculous. Someone who does that dishonors all the work he did for so many who had so little.

How about you post some statistics regarding compensation for DL's workforce in ATL and DTW, two large cities with high ratios of black people in the general population and DL's workforce, and then it will be very obvious that DL has been enormously supportive of bringing up wages for ALL people, including those who come to work at DL just miles from the very church where Dr. King preached.

You have visited the church, haven't you?

which has what to do with the current discussion other than

looks like 700 got you out of bed too.

to try to frame Dr. King's message as one which is about the labor movement to the exclusion or one that is focused on helping people of color is irresponsible.

Since 700 is obviously unwilling to answer the question, perhaps you can and will tell us the color of the sanitation workers in Memphis that he was supporting.

Tell us more about the exponential growth in Ready Reserve employees at the carrier...

and you can tell us how the IAM managed to put its stamp of approval on UA's plans to eliminate job protections for thousands of workers and the TWU did the same thing at AA.

And then you can explain how it is ok for UA to dump one ramp subcontractor for another in DEN but it was all trash talk when DL has done similar things in other cities.

or this

FYI - TWU Local 555 has been in Negotiation for over 3 years and nearly 2 years in Mediation. Currently the federal mediator has called off any further discussions due to lack of progress. There has been a marked change in the last 3 years (FL acquisition) in the way the company is treating the ground ops employees. My perception is we are no longer part of the family. The company is giving us many concessionary proposals that most of us find unacceptable.
finally, given your quick response, did you forget to tell us about your visit to the MLK memorial in Atlanta or how his support of the labor movement has translated into your support for the faith he espoused?

Did UA and the IAM impose the CBA or did the member ratify it?

And keep throwing crap at the wall and see what sticks, as you are anti-union and won't let the truth get in your way of your propaganda.

again, you love to distance yourself from the IAM and the union movement when people make those kinds of decisions but you seem more than willing to tell us what the IAM can do despite the fact that Kev has repeatedly said (correctly) that a union IS the people who make it up.

so what gives?

No, I am for success and accountability. what doesn't work should not be given a pass - and the labor movement esp. in the airlines has repeatedly failed to demonstrate its worth, esp. for DL employees who have fared as good or better than what the union has been able to obtain for employees at other airlines.

THAT is the reason why the unions have failed to make any progress in unionization at DL.

trying to include anything about MLK in the message is worthless at best until that track record is addressed.

I'm still waiting to hear the massive growth of flat wage/no benefit jobs at the carrier fits in with this:

DL has been enormously supportive of bringing up wages for ALL people, including those who come to work at DL...

That's not what I asked. You stated:

DL has been enormously supportive of bringing up wages for ALL people, including those who come to work at DL...
The reality is that by their own admission the growth of flat wage/no benefit jobs has been enormous. If anything, the effect of this action has been downward pressure on wages, not a "bringing up."

do you have a quote where they said that?

and, the pot is still only so large. Despite your repeated recommendations to give out equal dollar profit sharing to all and to make everyone high paid, the pot is only so large and you seem to offer no solutions as to how you are going to reduce the salaries or benefits of the highest paid in order to fund larger increases for some.

You either need to come up with a formula to increase salaries for some at the expense of others or tell us how DL can increase revenues enough to offset all of the pay increases you propose.

kev  I sure hope and its my wish to see you all become union at the carrier  so that you all can have a say in matters...   good luck bro
