What's new

HERE COMES THE LAYOFFS

You are a little behind. The twu and the company have already been talking. If AFW is closing it is being done with the blessing of the twu. We are not in the 1113 process yet so you can't blame the judge. We are in negotiations correct? If you want to get to the bottom of this, call Gless remember he was the one that signed the letter of agreement to make dwh a maintenance base. Do you think gless new about all of this when he signed the LOA? Afterall the company said that they didn't need 3 maintenance bases and that supposedly is the reason why they shut MCI. One thing is for sure and that is that dwh cannot hold all of the work that afw does. So it will have to be outsourced, sent to Tulsa other facilities built to handle the work or a combination of the three. If AA was really trying to wright this ship they would be doing things like sending the wheel and break shop back to the line were it would be better located to supply the system and closing facilities that are productive. Oh and it could be a possibility that AA is using this so called leak to the press as a negoiating ploy to get more money out of the union, county or state.

And the TWU would not give DWH to the AFW local as president Pike had asked for. Everyone knows how the TWU has it in for AFW because we do not go along with the TWU as they might want.

many moons ago when I joined this forum I explained the political theatrics of the TWU. The balance of power will determine which stations stay open or closed. There will be lots of horse trading on the TWU's part in order to keep the dues machine flowing. TUL stays open but badly bruised.....lots of layoffs and 24/7. AFW is done! DWH is done as a base and becomes part of DFW. All the cornerstone class 1's shrink 10 to 20%. New fleet of aircraft outsourced to Timco, Boeing or Airbus maint. contractors. There will lots of carnage and those that remain will see their purchasing power diminished by 25%. If you vote yes....that's what you get, and if you vote no....that's what will be impose on you.

Jim Little carries the ultimate trump card, and he can IMPOSE his own terms on us by ACCEPTING, on our behalf, anything that AA throws at US in the best interest of the membership. It's in the TWU Constitution.

Hey, thanks for the update!

happend before line was not alowed to bump in overhaul so now it time for overhaul to taste what line had to endure every laay off and its not a dream it a reality its going to happen wake up now look what united did they LOCKED OUT THERE OVER HAUL THEY HAD NO LAY OFF CLAUSE AND THEY STILL GOT SCR.WED FOR YOUR SAKE I HOPE IT DOESNT HAPPEN BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT I HEARD AND YOU WILL SEE SINCE YOU DONT LIKE TO HEAR THE TRUTH NOT A RUMOR SO FIND WHAT IN A FEW DAYS

United did not lock out its overhaul bases (IND & OAK) from bumping.

While we did indeed have "No-Layoff" language in our contract, that LOA had force majeure exclusions in it, one of which allowed the company to layoff in the event of a declared or undeclared war. United cited the shooting war in Iraq as the trigger. Our union at the time-IAM-went after UAL with an injunction against the War claim, as UAL was also trying to get around paying severance benefits to those who were at the bottom of the seniority list and couldn't bump. In the end, they settled out of court with the bump/layoffs going forward but UAL had to pay benefits to those affected.

It is true many in IND took the layoff and did not bump into the system but they were not locked out.

Im ready just give me my walking papers because BK is not going to fix this mess expecially with the TWU at the helm.

This may not be the proper timing, but wanted to fill some of you guys in, in case you don't know. First I wish no evil to any of you.
I have no idea what may or may not happen at AFW or TUL. However, if it does come to reality with lay-offs and or closures keep this in mind. With the current sitsuation between SWA/AT once we get a final senority agreement going, there are provisions within the agreement to start hiring mechanics off the street starting in April. The verbage states hiring at least 5 mechanics per month untill we have enough for the added line of maint. here in DAL. Just wanted to throw that out there to you guys in case you could use the info to your advantage. Good luck to you all and get those resumes updated. Once the openings start, they usually close very quickly do to the huge responces it will create. I will post here if and when the agreement gets voted in. We are hearing this first one is getting voted down, but also hearing there is already a 2nd offer prepared so stay tuned.
Any word on Maint in ISP or LGA? I know a lot of guys who would not wait for a layoff.

It's going to take a TUL closure to break the TWU. If it was up to the Line stations and AFW....AMFA would have been here years ago. Tulsa is the TWU and as long they have the majority, and the TWU has the dues machine intact by trading wages, benefits and pensions for jobs w/ haircuts......WE will never replace the TWU!!! Again, that's only one man's opinion.

You just never know IF AA has any plans to break the TWU, as well????? But, we'll find out Wednesday, stay tuned!!!

Because Tulsa has done all it can for 20 years to try and get AFW closed. It may have succeeded this time.
Are you indicating that the members have been attempting to close AFW or is it the company in Tulsa or the TWU in Tulsa or even a collusion between the company and the TWU?

Btw................anybody else notice the absence of "a few" TWU "supporters" during this timeframe, here lately??
Hmmm......wonder where they are?! 🙂

Probably has something to do with when UA shuttered maintenance bases they claimed is was AMFA's fault
Probably has something to do with when NWA shutters maintenance bases they claimed it was AMFA's fault

Of course now that AA shutters MCI and AFW it is who's fault now?

You know it is a double standard with these stooges that cannot see past their 35 mile radius of Ammo, Minnows, NCAA Football, and 1 Ton Trucks.
