I don't know how long you have worked for American Airlines, but as long as I have worked here line has always had the chance to bump into overhaul. That is how I worked with a lot of line guys. They took overhaul mechanics positions until they were able to go home. So got a grip.

heard they will reline all line stations no one will be able to bump anywhere
HEARD, HEARD, HEARD, just another rumor. NOBODY will know what the company wants until they meet at the table. Until then it's all RUMORS.

So, I guess theat when all the class 2 stations close, I don't have to worry about getting bumped!!!!

What we think American Airlines will reveal on Wednesday

http://aviationblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2012/01/what-we-think-american-airline.html

Pretty much backs up what I've said here --

1) maintenance takes a hit (I've never seriously considered TUL a closure candidate over AFW)
2) pensions get frozen or terminated (holding out hope for a freeze)
3) productivity workrules get hit hard for APA and APFA
4) pay pretty much goes untouched except perhaps for TOS in APFA & APA

I voted yes on the last TA and have been attacked on this forum for saying so, and I have talked against the vote NO coalition for the their know nothing rhetoric. I have also have been against the NY local president for provoking employees with comments like, "Can the judge fly fix or load airplanes? You have power, you just need the balls to use it." I have also made comments such as "I'm not going on strike so OH doesn't have to work weekends"

Nothing personal, but for me to hear, we get paid less but we do all our maint in house doesn't pay my property tax. ILL state tax up 66%, toll roads just doubled, just to mention a couple of things. I'm sure it's worse in California and NY.

There is no difference between "I've got mine" and "If you don't like it transfer to TUL"

Nothing from the OH mechs about that last line? I use to hear that all the time when I worked at LAX. Funny how my OH colleagues don't mention that old saying when talking about being a union brother now.

You are a pot stirrer. <_< I doubt Tom Horton is calling you with information.

It isn't over till the fat lady sings and if it happens it means some poor flight line guy will be bumped.

I wouldn't count on bumping the system no matter where you come from in the event of layoffs, ie OH or Line. Bumping costs the company MONEY, and they're really not into that right now.

I'm not at Tulsa, I got out as soon as possible. If you check the contract voting records, you will see that
AFW votes in line with JFK. There has been, many a contract that you, LAX voted in for us and gave us pay cuts.

I am not sure I understand the complaining about TUL. Since everyone on the line and at AFW, hate the TWU, then why doesn't the Line and AFW vote the TWU out and "throw TUL to the street". You out number TUL, so grow some and do something about it, but remember all of TUL loves the TWU.

Because Tulsa has done all it can for 20 years to try and get AFW closed. It may have succeeded this time.

This may not be the proper timing, but wanted to fill some of you guys in, in case you don't know. First I wish no evil to any of you.
I have no idea what may or may not happen at AFW or TUL. However, if it does come to reality with lay-offs and or closures keep this in mind. With the current sitsuation between SWA/AT once we get a final senority agreement going, there are provisions within the agreement to start hiring mechanics off the street starting in April. The verbage states hiring at least 5 mechanics per month untill we have enough for the added line of maint. here in DAL. Just wanted to throw that out there to you guys in case you could use the info to your advantage. Good luck to you all and get those resumes updated. Once the openings start, they usually close very quickly do to the huge responces it will create. I will post here if and when the agreement gets voted in. We are hearing this first one is getting voted down, but also hearing there is already a 2nd offer prepared so stay tuned.

DFW gen, Correct me if I am wrong or out of line here. If I recall, back in 03 when AA was going after their employees, I vegly recall reading postings that said something like, Don't fall for AA's retroic, they are getting conssesions now and will go after the pensions "AND" yet more cutrs later, including more lay-offs. I remember people saying, let them go into BK now (back in 03) otherwise they will "double dip" and threaten or go into BK and rip more pay, pensions and jobs from the mechanics group all over again. It may not have been this site, but I do recall reading it on one of these forums, and it may have been Dennises old forum, not sure. Anyone else remember these postings?? As I have stated before, I still say this was all planned back in 2003, yes even this BK now. Waiting it out (of course after they got the 03 conssesions) until all the other carriers got all their conssesions in place, studying them, and using their conssesions to now have a goal as far as numbers to reach with their newly plans to be the most cost efficient airline out there. AA , in mu opinion, will not remain a stand alone carrier. They have been studying the mergers of the airline industry as well. When this is all said and done, AA will be the largest airline out there, with the lowest labor cost out there. And once again making boo-koo bucks in profits again, and never restoring the pay to the employees, except of course for all the management folks. I wish you all the best of luck. Maybe this time your union will finally say enough is enough...

It does not matter if the union says enough is enough or not. The cuts will come until AA gets the MTC down to the Southwest level of massive out sourcing and no pensions.

Thanks for the info I am sure it will be helpful to the ones who get laid off!

You are a little behind. The twu and the company have already been talking. If AFW is closing it is being done with the blessing of the twu. We are not in the 1113 process yet so you can't blame the judge. We are in negotiations correct? If you want to get to the bottom of this, call Gless remember he was the one that signed the letter of agreement to make dwh a maintenance base. Do you think gless new about all of this when he signed the LOA? Afterall the company said that they didn't need 3 maintenance bases and that supposedly is the reason why they shut MCI. One thing is for sure and that is that dwh cannot hold all of the work that afw does. So it will have to be outsourced, sent to Tulsa other facilities built to handle the work or a combination of the three. If AA was really trying to wright this ship they would be doing things like sending the wheel and break shop back to the line were it would be better located to supply the system and closing facilities that are productive. Oh and it could be a possibility that AA is using this so called leak to the press as a negoiating ploy to get more money out of the union, county or state.
