And the price of airline tickets are also the same if not lower.

Good point! Although, when I was first hired, People Express was offering the $19 one-way fares to EWR and Piedmont matched those fares. Let's just say the flights into EWR were "interesting." 😀

If you ever get the chance to meet "Mr. Parker", the first thing he'll do is insist that you call him Doug.

I find it really amazing that some of the HP employees on here seem to forget that they too were in BK TWICE not so long ago.

Wrong bucko, HP has only filed once. The ATSB loan is not the same as a BK.

We will be step siblings. Aren't we supposed to be mean to each other? 😀

Can I just say that there really won't be a whole-lotta f/a trying to get into phx. most of our f/a commute from the southeast, FLorida to be exact. It is immpossible sometimes to nonrev because of all the commuters. The f/a that commute from LA are mostly leaving on the VFLR's. NOBODY WANTS PHX!!!! Chill out....GOSH!!!!!!!!!! There will be more f/a trying to come to the east coast to be based from AWA. I have not even ONCE heard a f/a that is junior to AWA's f/a's complain about AWA f/a's coming into PHL..CLT..Anywhere. We will all be as one. So, just relax and chill out.

As far as the title of this thread. I did talk to a few people I know at AWA, and yes, it is not a rumor. AWA has a class for SEP. So, for you all to be hiring still, there must be something else going on. What I mean is they must not expect to furlough after the merger because I do not feel like they would hire just to furlough. That would be stupid.

AWA does NOT have a class scheduled for September. At least, not according to our inflight training department. I would think they would know. There is talk about possibly hiring within the next few months. Why anyone would want to get involved in this industry now is beyond me.

hulagirl,
Did you notice the date I wrote the september hiring comment? They WERE going to then changed their mind. But, it was true..now they are talking about offering new hire positions to the invols at U. It is all on the table right now as we speak. So, we will see what happens REALLY soon.

It's great that Doug does that ..he doesn't even mind the "doogie" nickname 🙂

I honestly can't imagine calling any of my bosses Mr. this or Mrs. that, etc. At every company I've worked for, everyone from the CEO down had employees use their first name. Well, when I worked in retail, one store manager did want his employees ot use Mr. ..but his bosses overruled him on that 🙂

Wow! I started at Piedmont in 1986 at $15/hour....and that was B-Scale! Amazing that 20 years later the starting pay is still basically the same. 🙁

Comair ( a regional airline for Delta) starts their FAs out at $20 a block hour.

Crazy that there are mainline FAs that make less.
