When UA announced their BK I was in the break area, One older Mechanic had a tear in his eye, I asked him why? He was a mechanic for EAL, Then Pan AM, Then United. He said his retirement plan is not to retire.
He was laid off from UA in BK. Haven’t heard from him since.
Yea, it sucks but at least Smisek received a 300% bonus.

I am deeply saddened and touched to hear stories like this. I've wkd w guys like that, and respect them. They're the ones that paved the way for us, and wind up getting crapped on.
I just about get welled up inside, myself.
