Quite true - If the ibt secures the UAL membership a good contract without forcing us into their medical or pension, then they could indeed use it as an organizing tool.
That said, even a good contract for us at UAL will have limited appeal at Delta if there is no underlying systemic issues amongst their techs. Delta is famous for leap-frogging the other majors whenever we secure larger contracts so it would have to be something beyond finances.
