Does anyone know if United has maintenance in DEN or IND and what kind?-Ed

I like it already
Maybe this will offset some of the layoffs that 'will' happen.

Lighten up 700UW, you have a chance to bring us UA Brothers and Sisters back into the IAM fold... 😛

UT,
We might sound a little hard, but it has been a tough row to hoe for all of us. Took a quick look at your scope. The us Air seems better. 50 % of all A/C work. Big or small. We lost our Jt 8 shop long ago. Fan changes and QEC's are about all we do now. I don't think we even do shop cks on the engens. We work any where they need us. From sheet metal to engine changes. All over haul shops are gone. But we still do flight controls, and composit repairs. Frame repairs, bulkheads. Mods, Rib 5 line bores & gear changes. (EA's ,Eo's and AD's.) We have also been doing AW's buses. Clocking them into our "S" ck program. Clt guys can fill you in on their HVM's. Pit is down from 12,000 to 1,200. 500 flights to 64.
Senior guy is 44 yrs junior guy around 18 -19 yrs. We have been gutted , but not so much as you guys.
Union wise. I don't care who is in there. We have lost our unity. It needs taken back and run from the floor. They (AGCs on up) don't feel the pain that all working guys have been under. What ever union is there, it needs to be taken back.

OG,

I should have your nom de plume... 😛
I am in agreement with you 100%

Good Luck to us 'ALL'...

If this merger does go down, we'll need to hound the AGC's to cherry pick the best of both contracts. We pushed for more pay for the licences and preium positions. Tried like h<ll to push for the non destructive inspection pay. We'er not at industry standard for those disciplines. And if you have ever been in a hearing with the FAA , you know that they are comming after your livelihood. So the pay should be where the action is. Your name and number , and the Company QA department is comming after you. The company will put as much weight on you so they don't have to pay the fine. So skill pay is one thing, your name and number in the log book is another. The bland IAM language doesn't get it.
Get a base wage to cover the loaf of bread and gallon of gas. Pay for the required A&P and NDI work .

It's wait and see time again.

Later OG 🙄

I bet we hear May 7th that we are UAL and the IAM can start to sweat. GO IBT!
 Not going to cheer one union over another. It all starts on the floor. But is the IBT financially sound? My friend is worried about his IBT pension. Also the IBT couldn't pay their AFL/CIO dues. The United guy's can fill you in on there contract that was negotiated by a union that needed dues. Isn't it funny how they (the union leaders) never seam to down size their houses ? Just raise dues or raid. So you need the money facts. It's on line. The ramp guys tracked it down. They are getting united and are pushing from within. But that take more than just paying your dues.

Can't cheer for ANY union.....the company is in it for the company and the union is in it for the union - the employee gets it in BOTH ends. Company doesn't want to pay the $$$ and the union will take whatever they can. They all create a differential pressure.

The language never read 50% of the airbus work, all the East narrowbody A320 famiy is done in house, 50% of the 737s were farmed out, and all of the A330s, B767s and 757s could have been farmed out (much of it was).

All the west fleet is farmed out.

The new language reads 50% of billable hours, which means now the shops that were closed count in the hours farmed out so in reality more work will be done inhouse then currently.

Here is a copy of the changes to the CBA,

Transition Agreement

Read the language for yourself.
Yeah 700, you're correct. the language never did read 50% of airbus work.
If I remember correctly, 100% of the East narrowbody A320 family HMV WAS done inhouse BEFORE the
transition agreement was voted in. Looks to me, IF this merger between UAL/US is done, you can kiss Heavy Maintenence
good bye. [Actually it doesn't matter if a merger takes place or not, Heavy Maintenence will be GONE]. Just a matter of time.

<_< The key word is "hours", unlike the AMFA language. That is 50% of ALL billable hours ,of ALL type of all main line A/C. Not just the 320 series and soon to be gone 737's (50%). I'm sure that your grevance committe man can explane the T/A and how it works. We have a stronger scope. It's not a great T/A. But it is better than the Bankrupcy POS. It sure isn't what we are worth , and not even close to what we had.

You don't even want the United contract. FedX ,yes. But we haul a$$es not boxes. And eveyone wants Grayhound prices.
