What's new

IAM ramp contract. Is it already being enforced?

So it took four incidents for this individual to be let
go. When I was hired on by NW more than 20 years ago
while you were on probation if you called in sick one
time, that was enough to say goodbye, WE DO NOT WANT YOU.

I see the New NWA has some different guidelines as to
who they want to be taking care of their customers.
You get what you pay for. There is a "cattle call" in DTW next week for ESE's. I remember 20 years ago to make probation - ese's had to know by memory all 3 letter ID's for stations we flew to. Can do that many more. Most new hires can remember to put rain gear on when it's raining.

I hope the new hires can spell and use grammer better than the old timers... 😉 I think you meant to say "can't" above...

By the way genius moderAAtor: you spelled 'grammar' wrong.

Be careful what you ask for Professor.  🙄 😉

We're having one here at the end of the month. Hooray for everything. 🙄

The city code testing was a huge chunk of the new hire orientation when I started. In fact, if you didn't pass with a very high score (95% I think???), you were sent home. I was very relieved that I already knew most of them from working at commuter carriers prior to hiring on.

Another thing we did was GO OUTSIDE. Do they actually even do that anymore? We had to learn all of the A/C types and be familiar with them before doing it all over again at our home stations. Now it's some time on the ICBT machines, and after that, who knows?

All I know is when they get here they're A🙂 Totally unfamiliar with the equipment, A/C types, and operation. B🙂 Pissed that they're not on day shift with S/S for RDO's.

...I seem to remember something that went like this:

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? (7:3-4) "A beam is in thine own eye"
Avoid hypocrisy. Consider your own faults rather than criticizing others.
7:4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
7:5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

Intentionaly, since it waz sayd tung in cheek.

Precious Local 12 Proud. The hAAtor will live to regret that correction.

Sorry, my only regret was staying in the airline industry as long as I did. Having been out on parole for the past couple months makes me realize just how much I was missing...

I have to agree with you on that one AAtor. I wasted almost 20 years at two different airlines. NWA did me a favor by permanently replacing me. I now have a job where I am valued and the pay is better than the scab pay at NWA. I also have my full benefits and a great retirement plan.

Right on Kev ! These folks have no clue on what there're signing on to. What, no S/S off? Here a pic of what happens when you drive a bag cart under a 320, thinking it's a 757 - which you drive ubder all the time. Can we say "unfamiliar with the equipment?" They had enough of this guy and he was canned.

This is what cracks me up..... Pack up and come
aboard Northwest
Northwest Airlines, the most pre f e rred airline in
the industry, needs reliable, hardworking luggage
handlers to come aboard its team. 🙄 🙄

The most prefered for who??? SCABS??? Passengers with a death wish by flying on scab maintained, Chinese overhauled junk???

Sweet!!! Now they need PlaytheCods to perform one of his perfect "SCAB" patches on the damage. 🙄

Hell it might take him a few days, but the wait will be well worth it!!!!

I've had a ramp license before and I am just ... no words to express such splendor (accident).

Yeah and they are probably scratching thier heads why there's such a high turn over rate...

Good Pic Spock. The SCAB crew can fix that easy...just pound out the dent and a little Krylon and its good to go

Any idea what tail number that was?

Even driving under wide bodies with empty dollies is frowned upon at NW. If you look at our LD7's, the have guards on the side of them so you have to back them up to the loader one at a time.

With the LD3's you can unload them from the side(s), but it's easier just to run paralell (sp?) to the fuselage....

Its not only frowned upon Kev it isn't permitted. Remember back to you testing for the ramp priveledges? No driving under aircraft or jetways. Technically that even includes the wings but until some Bozo scratches something, they keep doing it. Its funny that they only fired one guy...nwa usual kneejerk reaction is to suspend all drivers until they learn...oh wait can't do that, who would drive the bags. 😉
