Yeah, we are still under the TWU contract and will always be until the IAM decides to leave the ivory tower in CLT and come out here and start fighting for us. Not gonna happen, everything will favor the east for months to come.
PHX has no reason to believe anything, because we are given nothing.

Lol 'k.. Wherever it is, i'm sure it has a basement with all of the PHX union dues collecting dust, just waiting to be eaten by the fat cats.

You are pumping up a union that will have nothing to do with you, collecting union cards for a 'committee' that has no union, thinking some how it will effect change.
That is not reality.

Readers: I don't believe that the LLC ever thought they were going to win the
COC. But they do have the recources to delay it as long as possible.
Which is what they will continue to due after the ruling. But they
will do so only as long as it is cost effective. As has been outlined
before they will be subject to fines for not obeying the ruling. Some
have said how in past cases Companies were allowed to spred out
the award of pay over a couple of years.
But my question is at what point will the IAM step in and negotiate for
the west? If the COC is won some say they can sign the west over to
the east contract. Some say once the ruling is announced (maybe
even before) another TA will come out. In either case the IAM
will have avoided negotiating for the west.
What if a new TA is voted down? Will the IAM finally begin negotiations?
The IAM will never negotiate for the West. As long as there's nothing
in it for them, except perhaps representing us as a union should, they
will do nothing and hope for the problem to somehow dissapear.
You may say that the Sep TA was the IAM's way of taking care of the west.
I completly reject this idea. There is just no way in my mind to expect
the east to give up their COC. So the arguement hinges not only on
the actual value of the COC but also it's percieved value. I believe
the east had every right to vote down the TA. And no one but
the most crass among us can say that this was an act by them
against the west.
The point has been made that DL142 has represented M&R well. There
may be some difference of opinion coming from the west side, but
most seem to agree on that assessment. It's DL141 that is the
problem. And the criticism is for the most part not about
their ability to carry out routine functions of a union but
to their shortcomings as negotiators.
IMO negotiations are the most important role the union has
by far. If we do change unions no doubt the IAM as a whole
will suffer. It could even be the beggining of the end for them.
But it's not up to us to prop them up. Maybe with enough
pressure they will improve. But IMO it hasn't happened yet
with the critisism they have gotten on the Sep TA and the
drive to oust them. Thanks BF
