IBEW UPDATE 11Nov-

The IBEW 'paused' the campaign. However, incredibly a steady flow of cards have come in, about another 100 in total for the week even with the pause. CLT signed the most, SAN kicked butt and now has 55 out of 72. BUR just opened up.

regards,

Nice wording!

Now it is time to focus on real change and stop running to the next would be suitor.

If you want change do it in a productive manner.

Risking decertification of your union is not productive.

Promoting membership in a union that does not recognize you is not productive.

Union bashing is not productive.
Dog wonder, if the IAM acted like a union then none of this would be happening. When Brickner opened up his mouth last month and said ,' Oil will be at $100 a barrell' and insinuated workers would be sorry, if you paid attention you could almost hear Parker's voice.

Now Forbes mag says that oil will be coming down to $60 barrel probably in a few months, due to Saudi's willingness to pump out more oil. Who are members to believe, some united employee named Brickner who claims to know the oil market, or experts in the forbes article?

regards,

Regardless of your position on the conduct of people within the IAM you disagree with, the IAM is still a union.

Union bashing is not productive.

Dog,
I would bash any union that was working against it's members best interests. Just because it happens to be the I AM MANAGEMENT that are the ones working against it members, you get on a high horse and bash the people who are working for a change, for better or worse, a change non-the-less. If you feel that the I AM AMNAGEMENT is the union for you, by all means support them. But all I ask is that you let the rest of the Fleet Service brothers and sisters make up their own mind on the I AM MANAGEMENT vs. IBEW.

The IBEW is not a choice.

The choice is union or no union.

Why is the IBEW not a choice? Do you really think that Fleet Service will not vote for representation? Either way, for the I AM MANAGEMENT or the IBEW? You could not be that irrational. Are you a FSA or not. What is your stake in this?

Over opinionated and under-informed. He must not be in our class/craft

To those of you who feel the IAM can straighten itself out or have not really
had the opportunity to prove its' value to the workers'. I tell you a specific
example of the IAM's ineptness at negotiating for us,''The fleet service worker''.

This recent TA when brought before the group for questioning , it was stated
that everything has ''Value''. Negotiations are give and take, but the one constant
is the value placed on any benifits or takeawys in the agreement. There was a
benifit in this pass TA that called for positive space travel for the IAM leadership.
OK, Now what was the value of that and couldn't that have been applied to another
area to help the workforce coming out of BK. Could that value been giving to the
membership and not the elected or appointed leaders. What kind of a difference
would that have made in an hourly wage, holidays, sick time or benifits. The IAM
in this one instance told you who they are loyal to. I would seriously doubt this little
proposal would have made its' way into the M&R TA, had it not been stopped 2 days
after we voted down ours.

13++ years and counting, how long to straighten themselves out or prove themselves
to us. Oh and our dues are going UP.

I'd like to add at the PHL monthly meeting there will be nominations for your Local and
your Committee in PHL. The meeting is scheduled for 1930 on the 13th of Nov. Please
attend if you can make it.

I believe we need a change.....the IBEW offers this to me.

Thanks

Really the dues are going up ? So are you referring to the conference in 2008 to vote on the proposal to raise dues ? Or is there something going to happen before the end of the year to raise the dues ?

Probably not in your class.

I saw the results of a vitriolic union against union campaign for Fleet Service many years ago. It was a failure. Combined with an ill-advised 'independent' union campaign, much like the one going on now, it denied Fleet Service representation for a number of years.

The company took full advantage of that situation, and for all of their stumbling in operations, would welcome the chance to do it again.

I don't care to see that happen, again.

Do you?

Which side are you on?

Dog,
19 years ago was a long time ago.. You had have the work force coming from a management friendly and honest airline

just got a big raise so I could understand there thinking. Many Many things have changed in this industry since then so

to compare the atmosphere of 1989 to 2007 well thats kind of a stretch . Just about everyone in this class and craft have been

screwed by the company and IAM over and over.

Dog,
Since the I AM MANAGEMENT does not know how to fight, it really is only those people that want to keep the I AM MANAGEMENT vs. those who want the IBEW. Not the I AM MANAGEMENT vs. IBEW.
Or union vs. union as you like to put it. So I believe that if there is a vote, that one or the other will win. We will retain representation. Hopefully that representation will be the IBEW, but we will see.
