What's new

ibt and PSA

Somewhat misleading, if the previous post about how non-union PDT wages are actually higher than PSA union wages.

If that's true, how is this unusual version of outsourcing a bad thing? Would you prefer the employees remain union, even at the cost of lower wages?

It is outsourcing when a group of unionized workers who have a CBA are being replaced by another company.

The wages are a fact...I have worked for both. Maybe this is why PDT employees have voted down a union multiple times.

Well, if PSA had a higher wage, then maybe they wouldn't have to convert those stations to Piedmont. The SOLE reason for conversion was inability to adequately staff stations per the CBA... and you can thank your lovely IBT in PIT for that one. last contract offer was to up the pay scale to $8.xx per hour, but the union thugs in PIT didn't like the cap-out, so they strong armed PIT (the only city the IBT really cares about in terms of PSA) the entire station to vote against the contract.. interesting that the outstations voted like 94% IN FAVOR of the contract.

And yes, PSA starts at $6.27-6.77 an hour while other regionals are all at $8.xx / hour. Cap out at Piedmont is actually $14.00 when you consider the COLA increases.

PSA has slightly better benefits over Piedmont, 401k matches are much higher and the insurance is better (overall) -- Piedmont has 5 to 7 different companies covering their stations.

Piedmont isn't unionized because it doesn't have to be. When you have competent directors running around taking care of their stations & employees, you don't need it.

With all of this talk about outsourcing, get back to the real issue if we may.
Those jobs that PSA have now were mainline fleet service jobs in the first place. A direct result of DE-CERTIFICATION I may add!
So in my opinion these people are just another third party vendor doing mainline work. If no one would take these low paying jobs and or the wages crept close enough to mainline then those jobs would come back to mainline where they should be anyway.

It is outsourcing when a group of unionized workers who have a CBA are being replaced by another company.

Like in the case of the IAM workers at Alaska being outsourced to a non-union company that hires gang members?

The TWU also shouldnt throw stones, they outsourced cabin service at AA.

So what is your point 7? You know as well as I do that unions are not perfect. You have much more to be "ashamed" of right now than does the IBT. You can't "New Topic" your problems away. 🙂

As a PSA Customer Service Agent I am very happy that we are being released from the grip of the useless IBT. We have been without a contract for 3 years! For 3 years we have had union dues deducted and for what....$7.00 and hour!?!?!? To He11 with the IBT...BRING IT ON PIEDMONT!

Gee AWA Contract, Gonzo, AWATECH,

How can this happen?

Three years of paying dues and no contract?

Guess the ibt shows its true colors!

You only make yourself look foolish, post the whole issue, not just pieces.

ROFL.....now 7....you know he has a loooooong way to go to catch up with you and "looking foolish"....sometimes 7 you are just so pitiful.....I guess I'm pitiful too for responding to such garbage. 🙂

How come you avoid the issue at hand once again?

But I am not surprised, that is your typical M.O.

Three years of paying dues to the ibt and the agents have no contract still and are being outsourced.

Sounds like they should get a refund of their dues money to me.

Good for you US Express!

I hope your world becomes what you wish it to be. Good Luck!!

I have to say that your situation is much better than having your wages and benefits reduced and increasing your dues. 🙂
