Barbee would you care to tell the members of this forum why the res center in Tempe has a such a high turnover rate or why they'll only hire kids just out of high school to work on the ramp at Skyharbor Airport and even the ones that do stay past their probation quit after after a year or so?

I cannot comment on the res center in Tempe as Ih ave never worked or visited there.
The comment, "they'll only hire kids just out of high school to work on the ramp at Skyharbor Airport" makes you a dishonest person. You make it seem that everyone else is turned away. You know it's not true but you decided to not tell the truth, thus making you a liar.
AWA does, in fact, hire many young adults. Unfortunately, the more reliable 30-50 year old crowd is a difficult group to hire from as most already have jobs.
Why don't these young kids stay? Let's look at the reasons:
1) They figure out that they have to work. They realise that it is extremely hot and the bags and cargo are heavy. These people have spent most of their lives in air-conditioned homes playing video games. They are lazy and weak.
2) They didn't realise that $7.50 to start was not a whole lot of money.
3) They have problems with people coming up to them and screaming, "PILL YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR F-----N ASS!!!" when they screw up. No place for the thin-skinned. They would face the same treatment on the deck of an aircraft carrier if they had their head up their ass.
4) Sometimes, they are learning to be pilots and figure it is a leg up into the business or such foolishness. They soon realise that throwing heavy bags won't make them a good pilot and once you've seen one pretty airplane, you've seen them all.
When I was that age most of my thinking was done with my penis. I just followed him around wherever he went. So I don't understand the motivation of why they do what they do. Maybe it's the travel benefits. Maybe it's the glamour!
AWA would probably like more 30-50 yo range applicants. These guys stay for the long term and show a better work ethic. Most are married, some are retired military, the spouse is the breadwinner, on and on.
AWA also hires many Pacific Islanders (Samoans, Micronesians, Tongans, Filipinos, and others) who always stay for the long term. Personally, I think AWA should set up recruiting stations on the islands. They kick butt.
