IMPRESSIONS OF INCOMPETENCE

Well, well, well it looks as if we lost signal! ! ! ! Anyway I sure hope we get some more pics. As soon as I hit the air I'm sure we'll have plenty to post.

   No you didn't lose me, but unlike everybody else, I don't have a life and have better things to do than hang out at these forums everyday and every hour!

Also...I choose MY battles.

The ramp has never made anywhere near $28 an hour.

Keep posting your lies.

Then your employees lied, not me. I had a chance to get in and when I was told the starting pay was $8 and some odd cents, I said no thanx.

Looking back it was a great decision on two fronts...I made more at my current job, and after 9/11 I would have been terminated as a low union(low on the totem pole that is) employee.

So please 700, enlighten me...what was the ramp rate circa 1999 for say a 15 year ramp employee? Because I would like the correct and truthful wage.

I was not on the ramp at the time but the ramp's highest pay was around $20 I believe.

A ramper can tell you.

Heck Mechanics are the only ground employees who ever made $28 an hour or more.

You posted the figure, you take responsiblity for it.

Wow, well if that is true (and it wouldn't surprise me one bit) then that is just further evidence that some of the people running this airline have no business doing so, and truly are inept and need to go. With this place in shambles those people need to be focusing ALL of their energy on getting this place together, and quick! instead of having people focus so much on invading an internet board to serve their childish purpose. That is just another shining example of their "arrogance and ignorance". I'm telling you this place reaks of Frank Lorenzo and Texas Air, Eastern, PeopleExpress, New York Air all over again. No one in their right mind could really be this stupid or idiotic to be responsible for so many blunders day after day after day. I mean literally everyday it is something with these people.

Someone better tell Tempe to send me my bonus, then! I wish I was a management tool as long as I was making the money associated with these flunkies. I find it amusing that this is like a Maple Street experiment from the Twilight Zone. Remember the aliens that screwed with people by just turning lights on and off and making people turn on each other?

Like a poster said, ignore me. That'll make me go away. <_<

Thanks for the heads up on that, Orioleman. Yeah, I thought it was obvious from the beginning that this yo-yo was a Tempe type posting with the intent to stir up trouble. Agreed that the best way to deal with him/it is to consider the source and ignore it. Sadly, it wouldn't surprise me if this person was Doogie himself, getting cranked up on a few beers and getting online to set the record straight about what a good job they're doing out there in the desert.

Keep up the good work of making this mess public, folks!

 Lights on  Lights off

I'll agree to that even if I was given the wrong info. But even $20 is pretty good.

Thanx

They ran it into the ground and Tempe inherited it.
Tempe inherited nothing.

US was told by Lakefield, then CEO, that, they have good news and bad news.

The good news is that US secured DIP financing and more.

The bad news is, US has to take Tempe, run by a drunk, staffed by interns hired right out of school who, after one year, leave with a better resume and much better job, as their administration. They are the post school one year on the job training corporation. The fact that they could not run an airline is irrelevant. Several of the former "investors" in AWA wanted out and that was the condition. Sorry and thanks for all the fish.

You make a good point. Unfortunately we all heard of the WN situation by now. I find it extremely scary that many people would still rather fly a dangerous situation at WN rather than a trashed interior at US. These (US)boards have accomplished the mission of making the customer want to avoid US like the plague.
Yeah, the fact that US employees care and, so far, have been frustrated by Tempe bent on running a zero cost airline, is bad?

At least at SWA, corporate listens to the line employee and treats them as valued parts of the corporation. Notice that the posts here generally separate the employee from corporate Tempe. That did not happen by accident.

Here’s another Impression of Incompetence.

Keep ‘em coming folks! Send them to me at n965vj@yahoo.com and I’ll post them anonymously for you.

Any and all of the a/c seating reconfigurations done to west specs has been a disaster for all our passengers. What kind of sense was it to redo seating on the east fleet which was twice the size of west? Not only are the a/c the most uncomfortable in the industry , Tempe has the nerve to boast that the reduced 32" pitch is an improvement and is quite generous. Lets not forget about the removal of closets on the 320/321. The 330 is beyond a disaster. Kirby's solutions is to play with the headrests. Where did this rocket scientist come from? Tempe complains about too many seats , then why put more seats on the planes? Southwest has greater seat room on their 737's than we have on our "premier" aircraft the 330.

I think we should change Doogie's name to Ducktape Doug!
Keep those pictures flying-----

I like that too. At risk of bad nettiquette, isn't it DUCT tape? as in air conditioning ducts?

Indeed! I'll fix it. Thanks

...although there is a brand of duct tape called "Duck Tape"!

I didn't even notice the duct taped seat bottom at first, as I was as transfixed as SegmentKing was by the absolute lack of leg/knee room!
My only recent exposure to US has been on a Mesa CRJ-900, and even the seat pitch in that little 'flying pencil' was spacious by comparison...

I didn't see the tape, just the legroom! My knees instantly hurt, as did my laptop screen, knowing I can't sit in F and do anymore more work on US.

I remember after the merger was announced ,one of the first things they "axed" was NOT fixing the powerports (and deactivating them) on the US East fleet... I think that decision lasted all of a month, before rescending it and turning them all back on. We should have realized that this is tempe's mentality -- do it now, think about it later.

but i don't think there is even any ROOM on the US East fleet anymore to use a laptop.

And for our friends out in PHX/LAS, all "East" airbus have power ports at every row for customers to use dvd/laptops if they have an EMPOWER adaptor. this is a great tool to keep people preoccupied during the flight, and I would HOPE that HP.. err US decides to install these on your aircraft once they go in for C checks.
