Inflight sevice on US/West is done with beverage carts. Each cart which we call liquor carts contain all the beverages including the liquor we serve. We proudly server pepsi products(hope we switch to coke).

For service, we place ice, cups, and garnish (lemons/limes)on top of the cart and depening which carts you have B737 or B757/Airbus you use the top of the cart to pour you beverages or a pull out shelf.

As for crew positions we use 1st,2nd,3rd,4th. 1st is in the F/C cabing, 2nd in the middle position, and 3rd is the aft position on B737/Aribus. On the B757 4th is the aft position. We have no lead FA position, but the 1st F/A has to complete the paperwork if a problem occurs on the A/C. The liquor form is completed by the 3rd or 4th FA depending on the A/C type.

As for the crews we can have a different flight deck crew on each leg. We don't have pure lines of flying except for the B757. Even on the B757 you can have a different crew each leg depending on the pairing. We mix our B737/Airbus lines. Some our pure Airbus and prue B737. You can have a turn on a B737 and go to Airbus for the next leg of the pairing. Our trips are built into 1,2,3 or 4 day trips.

Hope this gives you a little insight of the US/West culture. As an instructor it will be interesting to see how the US/East culture differs from ours.

sorry about that last post still learning how to do this...........

thanks for all the info......

it will be so interesting...........btw i vote pepsi anything new is good for me

one more in f/c we have a minimum service level on all flts which is
beveage and snax basket
the snax basket has in it:
cape cod chips
pretzels
cashews/cashew seseme mix
shortbread cookies
biscoff cookies
think thats eveything
do u guys do that too.....

in main cabin sevice depens on flt

For US WEST on short flights F/C gets an upgraded bag of snack mix and in the main they will get a bag of pretzels or peanuts these are on flights 1.5 to 3 hrs long 1 to 2 beverage service. Flights that are less than an hour and half get only a drink in the main cabin no snack and f/c still gets their upgraded bag of snack mix and drink . Flights over 3 hours f/c gets their meal and then we sell food in the back.

I won't be around long enough to see the integration, but I like the crews staying together. PI did the "musical crews" thing - different F/A's all the time (or different pilots from the F/A perspective) and I like staying together the entire trip a whole lot better.

Hopefully that's one thing we can keep.....

I like staying crewed better too.
You get to know who you are working with which is much better from a safety standpoint.
The old, old PI way was not as good.
I vote to keep it as is now.

We would probably like to stay with a crew too. You know what to expect from each other and can settle in better for the trip. Unless, of course, someone on either side of the door is a jerk.

Of all things to keep from the old US, keeping the crew together for the entire trip is it. From a safety point, and social point. It's a whole lot more fun when you have all day to plan the mandatory debriefing. 😛

Crews staying together including front end crew and cabin crew works out for the best in "most" situations. Certainly in irregular operations. We at US-east do have extra positions that include: "F" on the A-321and "E" on the 767. Most of the time everyone gets along but sometimes you get the f/a that you just wanna reach over the cart and........ but at least we can say, "Adios" when the trip is done and hope to never see he/she again. Whatever a/c trip your on you stay on that trip the whole time be it 1 2 3 or 4 day trip. This of course changes as well in bad weather as stated in a previous post.

On the A321 with 26F class seats are 2 f/as assigned to that cabin for a total of 4 f/as on the aircraft?
Is your min crew actually only 5 on the 767? How do you manage that odd number with twin aisles? Sounds like a service nightmare!
What's the US policy on food service in general? Is it usually not offered in coach domestically?
I wonder on whose operations inflight service will standardize.

US/east is very big on crew communication, staying together is from a safety stand point, great idea. Also, its alot of fun..As far as any jerks? Thats why there is a door, when you stay together you dont get too many jerks, because they know their diet depends on you...<laughing>

At east do you have extra fa's?? We are always min crew unless you have a new hire along or you are working a charter and the client paid for it. At west it is very rare we stay together. The only time I encounter that is on the 757 and the pairings are pure 757 with 4 fa's. I luv when we stay together that has been some of my memorable layovers. I have to admit thats why I enjoy working that vintage aircraft with those ol' redneck or good 'ol boy captains always fun!!

Boeing Boy you would fit in perfect with our guys with that handle bar mustache of yours!

On the A-321 the "C" works up front to get the beverage out on shorter flights. On flight with a meal of any kind, the "C" is to stay up front and assist the "A" in the galley and distribute meals. This usually does not happen for most "A's" usually do it themselves and sends the "C" to the back. We have the choice of 2 hot meals up front now on trans-con so its a little harder. As for the 767 the 5th f/a or the "E" helps get the initial drink out on short flights then helps out in the back. You need 4 in the back of the 767 due to two aisles and two carts. On int'l the "A" or CSD(cabin service director) and the "D" work in the now Envoy cabin. The "D" works in the galley and a/c right. You get 6 total A-F. On int'l to non english speaking countries your "F" is your LODO(language of destination/origin) f/a. The A-330 is a whole different ball game. You have 9 f/a's.

I Vote We Stay With COKE!! I Hate Pecsi!! 😛

COKE would be a great change!!!! I am so sick of saying.. Diet Pepsi okay? We have 7up. Pepsi alright? Sometimes I just can't bring myself to do it because I just told the guy in 13A that we have pepsi and then the oh so attentive guy in 13B orders a coke I just give it to him without saying anything. ANd then 50% of the time he will return it because he hates Pepsi. Trying flying into Texas without Coke product it is hillarious!!!
