Quick survey question. How many IAM members on this forum are familiar with the IAM CREST Department?

I would agree the more educated professionals on the NC the better. Additionally, I believe the committee should be comprised of members who are familiar with the "nuts and bolts" of the respective work groups.
Regardless of who is on the committee... negotiations in "good faith" cannot be achieved without both parties actively working toward a common agreement... IMO.
IMO... US is not the least bit interested in negotiating final agreements with any labor group on the property until their agenda with AA is realized or rejected. In the meantime they will dance. Exchanging proposals and meeting once a month with the respective groups. Hell, DP has spent more time, in recent months, obtaining agreements with labor organizations who aren't even on his property.
It's time the membership realizes what the Negotiating Committees from each group are up against. More importantly it's time to realize who our true adversary is.

IAM CREST
roabilly,
Thank you for providing the link. This non-profit organization, sponsored by the IAM, provides a wealth of training and programs for our members and others. Training that is very useful and pertinent to our workplace environment. The organization is funded by grants and fees by businesses.
I have now attended two Pipeline and Hazardous Materials programs (Train the Trainer & Trainers Exchange). The information and training concerning HAZMAT should be shared with all of our Fleet Service members as an enhancement to the recurrent I Learning training each member is required to do. The program is designed to do just that. Unfortunately, there are obstacles and resistance to adopting and supporting this training.

IAM CREST

Wish I would have been cognizant of this when I got furloughed, or perhaps an AGC that gave 2-sh**s enough to educate us of it. Its all good though, Im back to tossing bags finally after a nice furlough vacation!

SENIORITY PROTECTION is PARAMOUNT!!

bagchucker,
Were you furloughed from US? At any rate I'm glad you got back. You validate my concern that too few members are aware of the IAM sponsored organization. This organization could be quite helpful to those being furloughed. Additionally, the training they could provide would greatly improve the work environment of those on the property as well. Hell... your AGC may not be aware the organization exists. I believe this organization's exposure needs to increase. They have too much to offer the members to go unnoticed.

Yes, furloughed from US. It is a shame that the lack of communication is so huge that things like CREST are completely off the map when it comes to options available to the membership when faced with involuntary furlough options... again, my voice echoes the PARAMOUNT need for SENIORITY PROTECTION for merger language with American.

Seniority Protection is indeed paramount in contractual language regarding mergers or acquisitions. With the IAM it is a dove tailed seniority roster based on DOH. If another labor organization were to win representation rights of the combined Fleet Service, as a result of an acquisition or merger with AA, the seniority issue becomes clouded.(i.e. AA/TWA and SWA/Air Tran). The current IAM Fleet Service NC is trying to strengthen contractual language regarding this issue in ongoing contract negotiations. Unfortunately, as stated in a previous post, IMO... the company is not the least bit interested in achieving new contracts with any labor group on the US property. New contracts and better language would lessen the chances of achieving the company's agenda. That is a merger with, or acquisition of AA and all of it's "synergies".
IAM CREST is a great, IAM sponsored organization, of which the majority of our members are not aware of. We need to change that!
