Well it's August and still no decision from Judge Silver. What has changed since the clock started running on her eagerly anticipated judgement of course, is the strong possibility we may become AA.
Up until now our legal battle (the east) has been borne by USAPA with both east and west dues money. If the judge were to render a judgement which is bad news for the east, our heretofore stated strategy has been to appeal. But if we become APA, the cost of any appeal will now need to be borne by the east pilots only. I seriously doubt that APA will assess its membership to fund our cause. We will then find ourselves in a similar situation to the MDA pilots in their legal battle against ALPA, or the west pilots in their legal battle against the east.
We will, each of us, have to fund the effort with our own money, as in write a personal check. Kinda like the PIC investigation effort - only on steroids. Imagine having to pay more out of pocket just for the privelege of staying on LOA93. Too funny.
Of course, the same holds for the west. If the Summary Judgement goes in favor ot the east, then the PHX group will have to dish out even more for an appeal or a DFR - and the east will have to pay to defend itself.
The big wheel just keeps on turnin...
