Doug Parker will have no control or say in the transaction. Yes, it may happen but it will be the AA crowd running the show against the Franke machine. Parker will react, not act. Just as he always has. American is way more in control of this thing than Parker ever will be.
Care to explain your logic here - if there is any? Horton has to win support of the UCC and a bankruptcy judge in order to retain control and stay in his current position. Everything he does is checked and weighed against other alternatives by parties that he has no authority over whatsoever and those parties have little to no discernible loyalty to him to support an inferior plan if a superior plan is offered by Doug. Furthermore, the UCC can ensure that Horton is removed from his position and bring in their own choice for CEO just like they did with Anderson at DL. Grinstein was not in control of that decision and his chosen successor was not selected by the reconstituted BOD.

On the other hand, Doug does not have to answer to a bankruptcy judge or a UCC. He answers to a BOD and the stockholders of LCC who have repeatedly supported his leadership and vision for the company. They have also ensured Doug is properly compensated for his leadership and there is no indication that they are ready to change their allegiance to him anytime soon.

So, in order for AA to take control of the merger and force Doug out they would need to gain control over the LCC BOD via a hostile takeover and stack their own people on the LCC board. That kind of action would require substantial funds which AA doesn't have and I seriously doubt anyone in the investment community would be willing to give when the only point is for Horton to retain his position. If the AMR UCC/BOD wants a merger with LCC, surely they would take the more lucrative and expedient route of accepting an offer from LCC while AMR is in bankruptcy. The bottom line is that a LCC offer to acquire AMR makes good financial sense and it has the support of the labor groups at AMR which is key. An AMR takeover of LCC is expensive, illogical and gains the investors nothing other than retaining Horton over Parker which would not be a positive trade off for them anyway.

"I sometimes wonder if, way down deep, you guys even believe your own BS."

It sells better than yours...

Jim

Only to select fools, evidently incapable of seeing the inherently infantile folly of theirs, at least on any fully concious level...which, however sad for them, is most fortunate for you; as it affords you a comfortable pool to swim in, gleefully rubbing fins with a whole school full of equally befuddled, kindred spirits 😉

By way of excusing the general...ummm..."quality" of your posted "thoughts"; I'll offer you my earlier suggstion to one like-minded to yourself: "For safety's sake; just get an arbitrator to say you're 18 again first, and all should be well." 😉

Your "logic" means nothing. What means everything is Doug Parker and Kirby are proven to be incapable at merging with another airline. Over and over. They just simply screw it up time and again. This will end similarly.

Try to be more "conscious" of your spelling when you call someone a fool.

And they sure have the track record to prove your point.

I guess the shuffleboard game is over, now Jim go get a nice cold Ensure, bingo starts at 4:00pm, this board is for pilots.

Very illuminating post.

Hi Gang,

This is my 16 yr old daughter, Rebecca. She is a team Captain for this year's 32 mile bike ride as a fund raiser for the American Diabetes Association.

She is actively seeking a cure for Type 1 Diabetes, having been diagnosed with the disease at age 7, and fighting that daily battle. Also, she participates in studies and donates blood regularly for research at the Barbara Davis Diabetes Research Institute in Denver. So she is not sitting around, waiting for someone else to solve this puzzle, she is on the front line. It's kinda cool that while she is giving blood for research, two stories up at the Research Institute, mice are actually being used, trying to find a cure for this disease.

Last year was her first try at this kind of fund raiser. I am proud to say that mainly through donations from East and West pilots, she raised over $11,500......she was the second highest individual fund raiser in the state of Colorado. Thanks so much!!! Of course, USAir coprorate would not donate a penny. It just shows that the human spirit is alive and well.

If you would like to donate......and even $5 is much appreciated, you can click on the ADA link below, using a credit or debit card. If you use this method, ADA will email your tax deductable receipt to you. If you prefer, you can mail a check made out to ADA to the address below.

Thanks so much for your help.
