July - US Pilots Labor Discussion

Like when you said recent bids have had similar 190 positions?

Starting to catch on? "Similar" as in within 1/4 to 1/3 pilots per line and over the traditional 1.5 pilots per line. That's back through the last bid of last year - since the older bids are on my home computer and not available on Wings, that's as far as I can go back until I get home.

So as I said, overstaffing the 190 is nothing new. By how much varies a little, more when new hires come on board then dropping as people move from the 190 until they hire again. So where are the 190's such over-staffing is supposed to be an indicator of? They should have been here at least a year ago...

On the other hand, age 65 retirements start in December so which is more likely - US expanding the fleet with a merger possible or this hiring is to get people trained as replacements for those that will be moving from the 190 in greater numbers as attrition kicks in?

Besides, in typical fashion you took my guess (and that's all I said it was) and converted it to some kind of prediction guaranteed to be accurate. All for no other reason than to argue that you know better...

Is it your contention that personal principles should be merely products of changeable social fashions?

Your's certainly seem to be...they're only constant in one sense - what's best for you is your principle du jour...

Jim

If you want to fight the award, fine, but don't insult me or yourself by saying it's because of principle.

If you honestly just can't see the principles involved...then don't insult myself, yourself, or your fellows by incorrectly assuming such don't exist, merely because you differ on the issue.

"what's best for you is your principle du jour..."

Oh really?....Listen up [edited]; the nic wouldn't harm my life. In fact; were I a self-obsessed opportunist, I'd be happy to accept it and see if any pay/whatever benefits might accrue from doing that....so spare us all your incessant, smarmy BS.

The argument here, imo, seems to be that all, even as individuals, were/are somehow "honor bound" to just go along with being merely enslaved, but loyal serfs to whatever alpa's latest and ever-changing insanity was....which makes absolutely NO sense to me whatsoever, on ANY moral or philosophical basis that can be found...or even imagined.

Were the radical and incredibly flippant changes, (made clearly for the appeasement of UAL and perhaps others), to alpa's laughable excuse for a most mutable "merger policy" EVER "mutually agreed upon" by ANY of us at the line level? If you believe so; show me where my signature was placed?..Or even my vote EVER cast? Did ANY of us ever even have a vote in that politically expedient insanity?....NO? OK then; Show me where I, or ANY of us, east or west, personally made any "mutually agreed" upon contract to have a select few incompetents, and with them, the whims of a solo arbitrator, determine the entire issue in the first place?

For me this is hardly any issue of moral decrepitude by way of "reneging", but indeed a case where I'd be fully guilty of demonstrating complete moral failure by NOT fighting this imposed insanity.

I respect that you honestly hold an entirely opposite viewpoint, and feel your beliefs to be equally correct. I offer the above to show that none of us have any universally accepted view on any of this. Were it the happy case that we did...well...we wouldn't have any of this mess to deal with in the first place 😉

The Nicolau was patently flawed. Letting someone with 18 years of time served go behind a new hire is not right. You did the right thing. You stuck up for the junior guys and dumped the ALPA award. Tell Boeing Boy and the rest of them where to put it and move on without them, as you are. You guys make me proud. Take some time away from the whiners like Cleardirect and Nic4. You have them exactly where they deserve to be if they insist on hitting those guys with that much time. The rest of the Franke Team can pound sand. They hosed my uncle at Wien. I can't stand Franke Air.

Wrong, the 18 year pilot and the new hire had the same seniority on the same airplane.

What is wrong is trying to make a Reserve F/O senior to a Captain on the same airplane.

Well lets see if somebody contest the election and whether or not scabs Burke and Henriksson are seated prior to the resolution of the grievance in contrast to the way the first election was handled.

"Dumped the ALPA award"? what a marooooon.

Hey I got an idea...why don't you go ask your Wien uncle if he ever got out of a deal by changing his name.....

or...better yet...if he is still alive...ask him how many pilots it takes to fly a 737.
