Leonidas Update (June 4, 2012)

This is one last reminder for tomorrow's Meet-and-Greet with the West Class attorneys. Remember that unlike all the previous Meet-and-Greets, this one is at the Double Tree Hotel, located at 44th St and Van Buren. Please arrive a few minutes early because Marty and Andy will begin promptly at 10AM and end at 1pm. We have a lot to cover and we are looking forward to discussing with you, the West Class members, where our case is at and where our case is headed. Come tomorrow with your questions!

Leonidas, LLC

Hope somebody asked Marty about injunctions, which apply to trials, and Federa Arbitrations where they do not.

Be sure to ask Marty how he spent the 2 million on the unripe case. What are his plans when Silver puts the nail in the Nic coffin. Make sure Nic4 is watched closely. Talk about loose screws.

Nic4 did not go to the meeting today.

Should have some news soon though. I figure the Polsinelli lawyers will basically reaffirm that unless Silver rules in some off the wall, not address in the DJ manner, then we will all find out why old claxitive has a fetish about all things Kohler.

The possibility of a 3 way SLI in an AMR merger will also likely be discussed. I am thinking that the lawyers will have an answere to how to respond, and again old claxmoron and the company won't like what the law says regarding collusion with a scab union.

I think you have a misunderstanding about the finality of arbitrations.

Whether they are conducted under a federal law or by other means, the award is challengeable for a very few specific reasons.

Maybe somebody will ask Marty, and you can have your answere. But, I will tell you right now, the easiest challenge of an arbitration in our case, when specifically dealing with the usapa scabs and a potential 3 way SLI (which is what I think you are talking about), is to challenge it before it ever takes place, and that would likely involve the request for an injunction pending litigation...i.e. a trial.

I applaud your wisdom there Bean. Whatever faces any of is in life...well...the old "Tis better to light a candle than curse the darkness" is an adage I've found useful many times. The failure to exercise whatever input a person has on events, however slight, just due to personal disgust with any situation seems plain foolish to me.

Thanks, but if I was really smart I'd probably be doing what some of the other junior west guys are doing. Guys with 8-10 yrs are putting stuff in at Alaska and Delta (previously). I have several thousand 121 PIC, so it could be a future option. Hopefully things here will improve, ie new contract, holding a line (where I was prior to merger), sometime in the future.

I'll still go with your voting being a very reasonable thing to have done 😉

It's just plain, never possible to do other than guess with this insane industry. If you've a good deal of time left to plan for, and are adamant about staying in commercial flying...my 2 cents worth (adjusted for inflation) of entirely unsolicited "advice" would be to look hard at FedEx and UPS. Freight's always gotta' move, war/peace/terrorists/catastrophes/whatever. Having said that...well ...who can ever know?...If this American thing goes through; you might get a pretty decent ride with that road....It's always a crap shoot.

I agree, UPS and FedEx are much more stable than the majors. Two problems though. One the people I knew/know at UPS/FedEx are gone. Two, I always wanted to be an airline pilot, not a cargo pilot. It may sound strange, but I like the responsibility that an airline pilot has. Would I turn down the chance to interview at UPS/FedEx? Absolutely not. If both professions paid the same and had the same job security, I'd rather haul the unruly public 😉

And on one side note everyone please bring your checkbook and open yopur wallets, we are very short on money. Don't forget to ask why is the NIC is never going to happen!!!!
Outstanding turn out today. Great show of support for the west class insuring that the Nicolau will be the seniority list used. Yes everyone has and continues to open our wallets. Got a little briefing on the money situation. Doing just fine thank you.

Questions asked and answered. After listening to ALL of the possibilities unlike usapa's one sided arguments I can say that I am not worried in the least about what list will be used for the arbitration.

The latest update from the NAC. Witness the awesome power of the mighty usapa.

Paul and Dean updated the pilots on the status of negotiations involving US Airways and APA, as well as USAPA’s role in this process. We advised the pilots that US Airways management views USAPA’s role as only advisory and any suggestions/changes to this negotiation, even if it is current East or West language, must go through APA and be cost neutral. In other words, we must pay for what we currently have.

I believe that is what I told all of you weeks ago. usapa has a seat at the kiddy table. Nothing more than a guest allowed to watch but told to stay quiet.

Pop corn and cold beer, sitting back watching the end of usapa our former bargaining agent.

Nice going USAPA, you have cost us what we already had. I find it unfathomable, that some on the east still support USAPA's previous leaders and officers. Their immaturity, stupidity, and greed, put us in a terrible position.

Sounds like you are happy about that. Oh well, let's see what you have to say if you are working without your west good contract provisions. Don't choke on the popcorn.

Please bring your checkbook!

I'll bring my checkbook for however long it takes to be fairly represented by my current or future bargaining agent. You make it sound as if Leonidas is begging for money. The turnout for today's meeting was standing room only until they opened an ajacent ballroom. Nobody who attended were threatened with termination if they did not donate to our defense. I'll put it this way, we know who represents our interests and it's not USAPA.

At least we can vote with out wallets rather than in a meaningless election which I voted while already knowing the outcome.

It's not a run-off, its a do-over.

Sure Pi, because USAPA had the company on the ropes and that 90 day contract was right around the corner.

Now open your mouth and close your eyes...
