At the Kiosk, type in FRA for destination and up pops Frankfurt, Germany and Franklin, PA..... Need to create a new department to audit the kiosk, and maybe a new VP to oversee.........

In other news...CKB is still shown on the route map in the US Airways magazine. Just think of all the people that see this, and then are heartbroken when the website informs them it is no longer served.

As long as the kiosk doesn't permit you to buy a ticket to Franklin, what's the big deal, honestly? Sure, the database could be updated, but don't you have more important things to worry about rather than creating a non-sensical thread like this?

I think we can all agree, and hope, that the folks at IT ought to be spending their time on more important matters than this one.

The more time IT spends on trivial problems, the less chance they will foul up big time.

In theory the kiosk and website should allow you to buy a ticket to Franklin, PA - at least to one of the 4 Franklins in PA. It's an EAS market served by Gulfstream operating under the CO brand - in other words a *A market. Trouble is that the identifier is FKL and not FRA and the website doesn't recognize it.

Sorry Folks but this is yet another example of the "We don't want to be great, we want to be good enough" attitude in Tempe.

The above quoted was relayed to me by someone who actually heard the esteemed leadership of US Airways utter those or words to that effct at a crew session. Draw your own conclusions

Remember the" Swenksa" kiosk glitch a while back? Or the errant apostrophes in various US IT applications? Not the end of the world, but something that just looks sloppy. With the Franklin, PA issue, again, not a big thing really, just another screen to get through for the customer who types in "FRA" when checking in for his/her flight to Germany.

True, the IT folks should be fixing the big things (should we start a list?) first. But if they can't get the little things right...

I wonder if the kiosks still offer places like Johnstown, PA as an option. Hey, the IT folks did take away Chicago Miegs as an option, years after Mayor Daly sent in the bulldozers. So there is always hope.

Be fair sir! If some non-swimmers were mistakenly hired as lifeguards...they'd probably be well pleased to just not personally drown...

The best some people can ever actually aspire to's a marginally acceptable degree of practiced mediocrity....More's the pity in this case.....

As someone who spent over 20 years in the IT field, let me say that whoever said it is not a big deal that your kiosk displays destinations that you don't serve is technically correct. However, the perception damage done is incalculable.

In this day and age everyone is pretty much aware that everything is run/controlled by computers--including the airplanes. The fact that your IT department does not handle the a/c inflight software is of no consequence to the customer. All the customer sees is that your company can't even keep it's destinations straight on the computer.

A perfect example of this common (though incorrect) linkage by customers is the Arrival/Departure display screens in the airports. In most airports those screens are controlled by the airport staff, not the airlines. Yet, the customers assume that if the information on the board is not correct, it is our fault. And, no amount of explanation that we do not control the information on those boards will change the passenger's perception. "The board says the flight is delayed until 10am; so we went to get something to eat, and you are telling me that it left at 9:30am???? I want to speak to a supervisor?" Heard it? I bet you have.

Actually, the website and kiosk won't let you buy a ticket there because US does not have a codeshare agreement with CO - just like you can't by a ticket to some obscure Canadian city since US has no codeshare agreement with AC either. Aside from the standard ability to earn/redeem miles with any *A carrier, the only provision that US and CO currently have is reciprocal club access although Kirby has hinted at codesharing with CO in the future.

While I want US to give off a professional and polished image, the bottom line is that it is impossible for someone to be impacted by this oversight. It's threads like that make it appear that this forum is just simply a bunch of trivial and incessant complaining and detract from the real concerns/problems that actually are brought up here.

Lack of a codeshare merely means that you can't buy a "US" ticket on a flight to FKL. You can't buy a "US" ticket from LGA non-stop to ORD either, but the website will happily sell you a ticket on UA since they're a *A partner. But it won't sell you a non-stop ticket on AA since they're not a *A or codeshare partner.

I do understand what you mean, though - some places are too small to make it to the US website. However, that's a website problem, not an airport's problem - if a *A carrier goes there US should recognize it as a *A destination.

FutureUSCapt,

I disagree.

The former US (CCY) did quite a few things right, especially in the IT department.

Releasing a software (kiosk) that has not been rigorously tested & audited shows lack of integrity in the IT group. Yes, FKL is a "small" issue, but its still a glitch.

USAirways, a combination of airlines, is also a combination of a TON of little, tiny miniscule errors that just add up.

So whats wrong with this?? The kiosk is bringing up possible destinations that start with the letters FRA.. The website does it as well.

US doesnt need to have a codeshare agreement to sell a ticket involving US and other airlines (even non-star alliance carriers). I can buy a ticket that has US and AC flights on it even though they arent codeshare partners. I can even buy a ticket with say US and DL flights on though they arent partners at all. Also, I can check in for these flights and majority of the time get boarding passes for all flights even non US flights and non star alliance flights.

You are right, the trivial complaing (and constant I HATE US attitude) on this and certain other websites does 100% detract from real issues. The same applies with postings in other airlines forums.

The Tide of Mediocrity rises yet again.

"Fly US, we're not great, just good enough"

Seriously, cant you find another airline to hate?? Do you even fly US anymore?
