Sand-fiddlers from PHX are in PIT training to take over the PAYROLL DEPT---taking over all positions---no EAST vets are going to the desert---not real sure about that though---should be interesting getting fixed up when messes occur.
In PHX Tech Ops Division each department was asked (a few weeks ago) to cut 10% from the budget, but that s being done without loosing any head count so far. Just postponing filling any open slots and watching all discretionary spending. I think they also got some supplier contracts reworked.
I would assume they asked all divisions to do something similar with the possible exception of frontline C.S.

How about doing away with ridiculous waste of money positions like the Company Historian. I can't believe we pay someone to do such a BS job. There is an easy $40,000 saved.
Then you have the likes of idiots like PK in Inflight Admin who call back hundreds of flight attendants when the price of oil is rising out of control. I have said it before and I will say it again, how this guy is able to keep his job when all he does his make stupid bone head decisions in amazing. Recall all of these people, make some come back who did not want to and force people to quit who did not take a recall only to lay them off in the fall. Just yet another is long list of moronic decisions PK makes.

The person who fills the position of Company Historian is also a Flight Attendant based in PHX.
And I am sure he gets paid flight pay loss for working as the company historian...again...A HUGE WASTE OF MONEY!

A company historian? Yeah this is a joke. So what does this PHX based flight attendant do, sit on his overnight bidding on playing cards and china from America West and the "other" airlines out east on Ebay? What a joke. You KNOW he gets FPL for doing that position. My goodness. PK in inflight as well....I can't even put his work history into words. MY GOODNESS! ! ! ! I guess we just don't get it as flight attendants and can't see the big picture for ruining everyones lives. MORON. Maybe he can recall the remaining VF's.

Atleast I was able to strike up a conversation with PK last month in DCA and told him he was just about the worse inflight administrator I've met...He goes who the hell are you? I went "a concerned friend of the inflight department". What a moron.

Oh, they are a coming. With the United deal, which will happen, and the MEGA seniority between United and USAir, if I was an America West employee, I would be VERY VERY worried. If you have 15 years or less at any of the three carriers...get your resumes ready.

I've been through the name change from Allegheny to USAir. Mergers with PSA and USAir, Piedmont and USAir and now this mess HP and USAir. When and if United comes along, seniority between USAir and United will be of dinosaur proportion. I am most certainly not full of sh!t as you so elequently stated. Oh honey, they are a coming.

Since we do not have merged contracts(probably,freaking, 2012 at this pace!) then each side would draw down according to where the cuts are made(so I understand it), this may affect you to.

I would laugh my butt off if they got rid of us. I am 12 years and under. Fine, pay me severance with unlimited flight benefits and unemployment. I find a job with my degree that pays just as much and better vacation off the bat. While I loose what little flexibility we have left and a job I like; I land on my feet. Meanwhile back at the ranch, you have a disgruntled workforce beyond imagination that all commute (Flight Attendants as least) that are now on reserve and making top end of the pay scale. It would implode in a matter of months Hive Five in Tempe you morons!

I don't mind the company tossing all sorts of requests for concessions on the table or their decisions to shrink. I really do mind employees running around with their hair on fire, yelling that everyone else should be just as harebrained as themselves.
When Jerry Glass announced BK II the sole purpose of which was to "go after" labor concessions they thought they had left on the table, more than a few US employees had their regular chorus bewailing their fates, offering to toss everyones kitchen sink and bottom dollar on the table to "save" the airline. Now it seems they have calmed down, grown up and, thankfully, offer a wait and see attitude.
