In light of the newspaper article on Sunday....
Effective today, Per Ken Fisher....ALL PHL LOCAL bags are to be off loaded BEFORE the connecting bags.
They want the local bags in the claim area within 20 min.
Still only staff and equipt. for off loading one bin at a time.
This means the transfer bag runners sit and wait....cutting in to precious connecting time!
Brilliant!
Good luck to baggage service in down line stations....PAWOBS are going to get worse not better.
And the Holidays are right around the corner!!!

OK and WHO is Ken Fisher?

Tell me if I'm wrong in my thinking crushed, but this sounds like one of those brilliant quick fixes designed to appease local media types as opposed to actually fixing the problems at hand.

(think) ' well, I'm new here, I said "I can" and they beleive me. I will fix this philly thing, and listen to the first "authority" (media, that seems to have an answer}.''For the hundreth time I will proclaim that, I have the answer. (which I dont really but I want to promote my self as much as I can.)(Hey, If I can make a quick buck, what do I care.' 'They believe me.'

Hey man, that's management material!!!

Average bag cost to the company for miss connection about 50 dollars a bag. Thousands of bags soon to be missed conncected coming soon. Millions dollars of lost revenue
from Pissed off passengers who will never fly US again.
The look on Ken Fishers Face when the Parker fires him

Priceless!

Oh,that is the tip of the iceberg for Fisher's incompetence. We threw a party for him after he left.

well parker will live to regret his stupid comments. i think the airline could be better handled without any mgmt nor ceo

Amen to that!

The experienced employees could handle it better then ANY CEO we've had!

Including this 'Genius'!

Friends of mine flew back from HSV to CLT a few weeks ago. An hour and 15 minutes after ladning their local bags showed up on the belt. No one in baggage service cared to assist them after tehy went there after waiting 30 minutes. No one is going to fly you either if it takes 30 mintues longer to get your bags than you spent in the air.

PIT doesn't have much of a baggage problem, but every so often we get calls from baggage service asking us where the local bags are off of Express flights. Some of us have started noting what time we are putting bags into the system when the flight is heavy. When we eventually get the whining voice coming over the radio from baggage, we simply announce what time the bags went into the system. It shuts them up but good, and then we hear nothing more.

It turns out that somehow from embarking a flight to deplaning in PIT, a lot of customers become Olympic sprinters and can make it to baggage claim in five minutes. Average time on the belts is 13 minutes, according to an audit done almost three years ago now by CLT station personel while in Pittsburgh. Don't ask names, because I didn't. I saw zero point in having an outside station worrying about what we did when they had their own problems to fix. I'm sure the system is slower by at least a couple of minutes now due to age/broken scanners.

So, what's my point? CYA for a start. Get the bags to claim following established procedure and note when you drop them. If you get queried on bags, reveal what you did with them. If you are doing your job, no one can complain.

Very simple rules that deflect blame from person who did their job correctly.
