If this true, the idiots in Tempe better not try to sell the domestic FC cabin as Envoy. They better sell it as an all coach product unless they rip out the seats and add new ones so that it really is Envoy.

Oh, and Tempe (if you are listening), thanks for sending me 3 emails telling me about the "exciting" changes to the DM program--no rollover and no immediate upgrades from an N fare--I guess you are the only people who are excited about those changes because your former VFF's are not. Let the exodus begin.

There is no more Envoy Class...the minds in Tempe, AZ call is Business Class now. From what I know they are going to make them as similar as possible to our current 757/767 fleet. The "rumor" is true....the managers in PHL are making so bones about spreading the word.

Similar to the current US East 757 fleet? including the Fake Class cabin? Or, are they going to add envoy/business class seats to the planes?

3 ETOPS 757's for 3 routes to Europe seems like we would be spreading our assets realitvely thin. You would have no back-up airplane for checks, mtc items, downtimes, etc. If there are additional 757's coming to the fleet, even if it is just for the summer, then there better be more then just 3.

Could some of our STAR partners be introducing service to PHL in support of our alliance, rather then US getting "new" airplanes to fly new routes?

I hear the 3 ATA's have been leased so it will be great to have further service into Europe.. Please do not be negative about this, at last the company is moving forward!!

757/767 Training has been told to prepare for traning 67+/- pilots, to be online by spring. This works out to 3 757/767s.This would be an addition to the fleet as it is now.

It can be done if one of the routes was not a daily service...say 3 or 4x/week. This would give the down time for any maint checks.

I've been out of the loop for a very long time, but its nice to see that many of my ideas have been implemented (i.e., heritage planes) and 757s for Europe.

I suggested this stuff probably about 3 to 5 years ago, and its finally now happening. Very kewl indeed.

I would expect to see some services downgauged a bit to spread craft around. SNN/DUB might possibly go to a single 767 with a tag or maybe one 767 and one 757ER for the city that has the lightest passenger/cargo load.

Is AMS reachable by 757? If so, you might see AMS run with a 757 since the city has always run lighter than others except during flower season when there's more revenue down below than in the passenger compartment.

Honestly, I'm glad to see this happening. But, with so many 767s available around the world, you'd think that until the A350s come on line (something I had =not= predicted), they'd add a couple 767s to beef up service to Europe.

Of course, with only 3 757s, what happens if one suffers a bird strike or some other issue that takes it OTS for 2 or three days?

Anyhow, here's my old seat layout for the 757. Phoenix, feel free to ring me or call anytime.

Couldn't tell you what the final announcement will be, nor who the source is. What I can tell you is that there is definite truth to this rumor. US is looking to add seasonal European service from PHL to complement underserved Alliance markets w/ TZ 57's sitting in Europe. I'm not sure on the details, but there are 3 either in France or Germancy w/ a leasing company.

Stay tuned...
Old ATA 757's in France.

BBG,

I hope you didn't take my comments as being negative. I am all for expansion and additional jobs. I just hope that it is done smartly and not hap-hazardly. 3 ETOPs airplanes to fly 3 ETOPs routes is pushing your fleet to the limits. What happens if there is a mtc issue with 1-2 airplanes? Now you are in a cancellation situation because you do not have a back-up plan.

Exactly my point.

BTW answering my old question from earlier...From Boeing's website:

"For added reliability on ETOPS flights, the 757 is available with extended range features, including a backup hydraulic-motor generator and an auxiliary fan to cool equipment in the electronics bay. High-gross-weight versions of the aircraft can fly 4,500 statute miles (7,240 kilometers) nonstop with full passenger payload. These system attributes contribute to the 757's versatility, allowing it to serve more markets."

That might be a challenge going east to west in winter or when a hurricane is nearby.

3 former ATA 757's have been leased or purchased. Fact not rumor, and used to supplement European service, adding Lisbon, Milan and Stockholm. 330, 767 & 757 mix.

I am sure the "nay sayers" will find a reason to whine about this positive movement.

from what i know, there are 4 ata 757's sitting on the ramp in muc. N523AT,N524AT,N526AT,& N515AT. they are all 757-23N models etops a/c. they have been there for a while. there are pics of them on airliners .net. they are in the old palm tree livery .

Clearly, linking up with the Star cities - except MXP which is simply a high $$$ city.

Yes i too believe it will be stretched with 3 additional routes with just 3 aircraft, it will be messy if you have to send a 76 to a station that is used to a 75 because 1 is out due to maint(thats if a spare 767 would be available).
I think that SNN , GLA, and LIS will see 757 service, plus the
rumour of Ireland getting year round service might see the light of
day now with more aircraft available.
