It is my understanding that the ALPA MEC voted to send out LOA 91, RJ Scope Relief, for membership ratification.

The MEC has not yet reached a consensus on re-staffing the Negotiating Committee and the meeting will resume at 9:00 a.m. Friday morning.

Respectfully,

MEC CODE-A-PHONE UPDATE - April 8, 2004

This is Jack Stephan with a second US Airways MEC update for Thursday, April 8th, with one more item.

During its special meetings in PIT today, the MEC received a report from the Negotiating Committee on LOA 91 discussions in open and closed session and passed a resolution that directs that LOA 91, The Consolidated Small Jet Agreement, be sent to the membership for ratification. Road shows will be conducted for explaining and answering any and all questions pertaining to this agreement. Links on the pilots only web site will also be available to aid in this educational process. The resolution directing membership ratification of LOA 91 will be posted on the US Airways pilots only website. Further details on educational materials and meetings, and a balloting schedule, will be provided on the code a phone and website as they are developed.

The MEC also received a report from the Grievance Committee on the implementation of the arbitrator’s award for MEC 03-02-03, “Improper Furlough 1,†as well as an update on other grievance actions.

During the second special meeting today, the MEC participated in a conference call with ALPA International President Captain Duane Woerth, who discussed a variety of issues with the MEC and offered his counsel on the challenges before us. Among the topics Captain Woerth covered were the financial community’s perception of the airline industry in general and US Airways’ situation in particular, including GE Capital’s concerns on continued financing of small jets. He also reminded the MEC that ALPA’s full cooperation and resources are available to us as we move forward to participate in a plan to return US Airways to profitability.

The MEC will reconvene tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. to consider the remaining agenda items—the recall and restaffing of the Negotiating Committee.

The Pittsburgh MEC office is located at One Thorn Run Center, Suite 400 in Coraopolis, PA. All US Airways pilots are encouraged to attend the meeting. Transportation is provided from the PIT Airport by calling “Hotel Express†at 412-262-4500. Please be advised that portions of the meeting may be in closed session.
