If recent events relavent to aviation mechanics have taught us nothing else we need to unite and stand firm.

If the Northwest Senior Mechanics hadn't traded away 4,000 jobs for wage increases would thier strike have failed.
I think not!

The primary issue must always be job security!

The current IAM contract holds the best scope for Job Protection.

The current IBT contract in negotiations holds the best opportunity for obtaining a wage that will protect your family from the ever rising cost of living by negotiating a wage rate you can actually live on.

The IBT has already agreed to sacrifice it's current membership's seniority to gain IAM support.

The IAM failed it's membership during the USAirways bancruptcy process.

Which union is the final representation is irrevelant unless we unite and stay united to protect each and every members Job and refuse to accept anthing less than a decent living wage.

Unite with your God, anything less is vanity. Unions have done absolutely nothing to stem the insanity coming down upon the American worker, they have only made sure their personal well-being is secured.

Unite you say, I said you are right, only if you Unite with your God who alone will save your behind, nothing else can or will. Unions are not even close to worship material as you would have some try to convince you on these boards.

God will be will be around when the unions are not, and with their recent track record, unions will be extinct soon.

This is a very true statement TIA. Unfortunately it has become a problem with many of the unions these days and they are paying for it now. We need to change that trend if we want to survive. Regardless of what some "fanatics" say about unions, it is better to belong to a union than not. :)

IMHO, it just may be in the current situation. Time and information will tell.

TRUTHINADVERTISING, the AMFA mechanics at NWA did what the cowards at USAIR,AWA,and AA failed to do and that is: VOTE NO to concessions and have the guts to back it up with a strike! How low are you USAIRWAYS people willing to go before you take a stand. AMFA fought the good fight, while you people stuck your heads in the sand like an osterich.

They might have done the right thing by striking but in the long run NWA won and AMFA and its membership lost.

This country needs another revolution for the people to take back control of it.

The American Revolution wasn't about wages, it was fought because of taxation without representation. In order for "our people" to take back wages we would need to wage a world war with all the third world countries driving our labor rates down. American consumers don't care about "Made In The USA" anymore. We live in a much different world today and the economy is global. I don't think we have much control over this.

Correct me if I wrong but maybe 700 was talking about the Industrial revolution and all the great advances it brought. This inturn brought about a huge labor uproar, which brought us all the 40 hr work week, better wages, health insurance....etc. Well all of these gains are know being taken away, slowly through the guise of " times are changing" crap. Time for anouther labor uproar.

How about a unscheduled Labor Week! instead of Labor day..
Might shake things up.

Where was thier courage when they traded away 4000 jobs for a couple years of increased wages. A great number of the SCABS that took thier jobs are the same mechanics they sent to the unemployment line.
Back any coward into a corner and you'll see a brief moment of courage.

IMHO AMFA was doomed from the first day they were voted into NWA. The "hatred" for AMFA by the IAM was in large part the reason that AMFA failed. AMFA got itself into a bind and reached out to the IAM for help. There was no way the IAM was going to help AMFA.

AMFA is not very well liked by the members of its own organization. AMFA was just an easy way to send a message to the union that presently represented them, that they better show some interest in, we the membership, or you are out of here. Well, the rest is history. There will be more AMFA down falls in the future. :)

Look 700, We did vote NO, and you and the rest of the IAM's meatball mafia said that we were confused. We were not, that 2nd vote lost any respect that the IAM had and YOU WILL NEVER GET THAT BACK. It would have been better to die on our feet than live on our knees. This job is not worth what they pay us,maybe its good enough for a janitor like yourself. But this union would have been better off listening to there membership instead of thinking they were confused.

First of all I had no part of having a revote.

Second if the members wanted to vote NO they should have voted NO again.

Sorry I am no janitor.

And there were plenty of phone calls and e-mails from the so called "non-confused" membership wanting to vote again, and dont forget Siegel said he would hold his own vote if the IAM refused to vote it again.

And lastly the decision to revote came from the International, not the district or the locals.

Re-vote initiated by the international? That is scary. "plenty of phone calls and e-mails from the so called "non-confused" membership". How many was that? How many out of the over 5000 members (that you claim) called in and e-mailed the "proper" authorities to have a re-vote.

Is this part of the IAM rules? Ouch!

This country also needs unions that don't agree to do struck work either! Like the IAM agreed to do!
