New line maint stations opening

Individually and via mergers and asset acquisitions, DL has hired tens of thousands of employees who were union members at other airlines but who have not voted for unions at DL.

If union membership was all it is cracked up to be, then the tens of thousands of DL employees who were union members at other airlines would have voted in unions - but they haven't.

no particular order. that is the way they are listed in ebid is all.

So what happens when one cant transfer due to their own reasons?

I mean Delta hasnt laid off anyone since the merger according to WT, so do they get paid to sit at home? lol

So you believe the hotdog stand should remain open, even though no hot dogs have sold at that location, simply because Joe the Hotdog Guy doesn't want to move?

Remind me to never invest in a company your running!

if 40 guys from DTW don't want to leave DTW because they have their reasaons, they will be laid off. simple as that. their choice. or 40 guys could start choosing from the list of stations that have room for them and stay employed at delta thus saving the others at DTW that get to stay behind and employed by delta. this doesn't mean it will be the bottom 40 guys. it could be the top or middle 40 guys that want to leave, but i doubt it.

Thank you, but how can that be, WT stated no one has been laid off since the DL/NW merger, yet we all know that is wrong.

actually, if you would have read what I have written you would see that I said virtually the same thing that face said.

You would also see that it was posted that the DTW mechanics are given priority over all other bidders for that list of stations that include SAN, HNL, and a whole bunch of lower cost and warmer cities than DTW.

The chances are real high that a number of the affected employees can either take a choice to move to a more favorable location or remain in DTW if they truly have reason to do so.

DL has used the same type of process multiple times when work has shifted from one location to another but the notion that DL has done anything less than any other carrier is simply wrong. In fact, DL has protected every frontline job that has been cut with an offer to work someplace else.

You're really going out on a limb there... Might want to re-write that one.

Chances are 100% that all of the affected employees will either move, or stay in the DTW area.

vs. the alternative = and which some have said is a layoff.

If getting a priority move to a new station or just being able to stay where you are because others above you move, it is hard to see the hardship in this leveling exercise.

btw, here is an article showing that DTW-PVG is DL's highest revenue flight from DTW and DL fills 1/3 of the passengers with local DTW passengers, thanks to the auto industry - which also supports the NGO and GRU flights, among others.

of course the downside for maintenance is that the 777 is a very reliable airplane

http://www.thestreet.com/story/12362273/1/detroit-airport-boasts-new-service-shanghai-flight-filled-by-auto-people.html

Revenue of $200K per departure on the PVG flight or $71M per flight - along with a whole lot of similar markets on the DL system - are precisely why DL employees are taking home happy-sized profit sharing checks today

Wait a minute, he stated Delta hasnt laid anyone off since 2005 with the merger with NW.

Yet we all know people have been laid off, so why the misinformation?
