OK, so I've been wearing the new uniform. I wore the pants and the light blue sweater set. The color looks nice on me. I usually wear it with the long sleeve sweater off since it is hot on the 737, especially during boarding and deplaning. I feel like a gym teacher or like I'm wearing a track suit. LOL! It is comfortable. My sweater already has fuzz balls all over it. I ironed my pants and they were very nice looking but I noticed at the end of the day when I took them off they were very wrinkled. Yikes! I hope I didn't look like that all day. It looked awful, and I even made sure that I did an extra good job when I ironed them. Oh well. I spent a really long time trying to iron the white blouse for tomorrow. The pax have noticed our new uniforms and said they look nice. Some AA pilots didn't believe I worked for US, they thought I was trying to sneak onto the elevator in TPA. Uh, no! See my ID! We changed uniforms! I know a lot of people hate the skort but I saw it on a f/a and it looked really nice on her, but she was small. She had it on with the light blue sweater set and a pair of heals and I thought it looked really cute. I think it is made for smaller, more petite f/as. One f/a I talked to said someone made a comment to her that the uniform looked like an old McDonald's uniform.
You need wings that have the closed backs otherwise it will scratch you. My sweater already has a fray and a string hanging off and I noticed strings hanging off of my vest, which is what I am wearing tomorrow. Don't worry, I will cut the strings off. While it is nice to have something different, the pax can't tell who is a f/a and who isn't because there isn't any uniformity to our uniform. That is strange. Also, there aren't any shirt pockets where you can put the pen or ID. There's not one on the dress either. So, my ID just hangs and gets in my way when I serve or anytime I lean down. My pen has fallen out of my pocket a few times. One f/a who has been wearing her dress keeps losing her trip sheet, pen, and anything else she puts in her pocket. I really like the new pants. They aren't so high waisted, they aren't too baggy, and they are not too tight. They are comfortable. The blouses shrink so you may want to let them hang dry. One of my sweaters is much smaller than the other (like a whole size smaller) even though they are supposedly the same size. A couple of people thought I worked for some express carrier until I told them it was the new uniform. I've gotten compliments so far. That's nice to hear because I sure as he!! never got complaints on the other one. I washed a pair of my pants because I didn't have time to take it to the cleaners. It turned out fine. 😉 I don't care. Whatever. They don't give us a uniform allowance anymore anyway. Actually dry cleaning my uniforms each week would be so expensive! I will take my other pants to the cleaners when I get home but will still have to wash another pair. Oh well. The men's suit really looks nice. I like the striped shirt and the pants. We've all been complimenting each other on our uniforms. It will help morale for like a week, but that's about it. It's kind of like going to a Halloween costume party. I can't wait to wear all the different pieces and combinations. Tomorrow I will wear the vest. I hope nobody mistakes me for a Wal-Mart worker.
BTW, I am so happy to finally shed my old uniform for good!
It was looking so ragged.
