I think US being in a growth situation and being in Pittsburgh after stell collapsed was essential for its recovery. It will also be essential for future growth. Good airline connections are critical for business placements. PIT had some of the best. It grew disproportionately because of that. Without US there, without the non-stops to most places in the US and a few in Europe, the liklihood of a business locating there or even staying there if it grew is very small. PIT becomes Harrisburg or Hershey. And it will be getting real bad as the carriers abandon small markets, which they will. This will be sort of like when towns got skipped by the railroads in the 19th century.
