Non Reving Priority on USAirways

The DOH vs FCFS debate is silly. DOH is fair for East and FCFS is fair for West and any change disadvantages many.

Plus, they've taken away your pension, benefits, pay---the only thing left is your seniority. Why shouldn't you benefit from it. Just my two cents.

Tell that to a 4 year employee.

Question for you since I am not familiar with FCFS.
Is it possible for another person to physically check you in?

Give someone your password and they can check you in. Connecting flights on the same record locator don't need to check in again. Read up on FCFS and know the details before you discount it. My 2 cents says thats the way it's going to go anyway.

Has anyone experienced the "no board list"? When your name matches a similar name on the "watch" list, the HP computer system will not let you checkin on the web or at a kiosk. You must check in at the airport, and you can only checkin 4 hours in advance.

So, that means all those people who checked in 12 hours ahead, are ahead of you on the sb list if they have the same priority.

PLEASE SEND YOUR COMMENTS IN THAT SENIORITY IS BETTER. IF YOUR NAME IS ON THE NOB LIST, IT IS DIFFICULT TO BE REMOVED.

I sent the TSA identification papers 6 weeks ago and have not heard anything yet. THere is no guarantee they will take an action that removes your name from a list either. or that you will end up on it again.

SENIORITY IS BETTER!
Hmm. Very interesting. In my experience there are 2 types of "no-board" lists. One is kept by each airline, individually. This is a list of persons that, for a variety of reasons, will be denied boarding by that airline. The individual airline is responsible for this list.

The other list of "no-fly" persons is kept by the TSA and distributed to the airlines. If you match or are close to a match to this list -- it doesn't matter what U.S. airline you fly -- HP, US, UA, whomever -- you're going to have trouble checking in. However, if you work for the airline you are checking in for, any ticket agent worth his/her salt can clear this up. The TSA is responsible for this list -- not the airline, and in this case, not HP.

Question for someone who knows the US/Sabre/Seniority clearing of non-revs system -- Can you clear stand-bys, manaully, out-of-order? And, this question ONLY applies when you have enough, or more than enough, seats for all non-revs to get on board.

For example, you have 10 available seats and 8 non-revs checked in. Of those 10 seats, there's 3 together and a bunch of singles. Say you're first 3 most senior non-revs are traveling alone, do you clear them first, or do you clear the family of 3 further down the list (mom, dad, 4 year old kid) and give them the 3 seats together and then take care of everyone else? Or do you just use 1 command and let the computer clear the list automatically in seniority order and possibly have the family split-up?

Also, can you please advise when do you "release" seats? 10 minutes before departure?

Let's just base the boarding priority on the needs of the non-rev. If you're retired you must have a lot of time and nowhere in particular to go then you should have the lowest priority. If you're single and trying to rendevous with your boyfriend or girlfriend then you really need to get there so you should have the highest priority. Commuters and vacation travelers fall somewhere in between.

I will be glad when this is settled and it is FCFS just like American and Southwest!!! They seem to manage without issue. Things change people!

American also stapled TWA on the bottom, forget DOH. That was nice. I'm sure TWA people are managing without issue. NOT!

You can do it either way and it depends on the agent and situation. If you have seats open and have nonrevs on the list some agents will go ahead and clear as they are put on, others will wait until the seats have been canx to clear the list and still others wait (I dont know why) until the last 10-15 mins to clear even though there are seats available. Personally, I try to get the families and groups together or close if possible and try to give the senior people the windows or aisles if they are available in advance. Sometimes though, they want their bp to go on and end up in a middle when a window/aisle clears at the end and a junior person gets it. It all depends on how that particular flight runs though. (PS- You can also clear "out of order" on Shares by reshuffling the standby list. 😛h34r: )

Prereserved seats are usually at 30 mins since you are supposed to have a boarding card issued at that time. Anyone with a boarding pass, not on the plane, is 10 minutes.
