Off to Tempe

I find this all quite funny. Flying to Tempe to convince an airline to do business your way... Declaring war.. Jeez.

Honestly, I can't wait till you all get blown off and still "fly the flag" just so you all can complain some more. When the bluff is called will you all demand a hot towel for the egg on your face?

On my way home from NYC today I demanded a real glass for my drink and 3 limes. It really improved my life. Write that down.

Well you might be surprised my friend. Let's wait and see shall we.

Banding together to promote a common goal or interest is a time honored tradition. Look at all the folks from various groups that demanded to meet with CBS and MSNBC and eventually cost Imus his job.

So perhaps you could explain the difference between Arts effort and Mssrs. Jackson & Sharpton, et al.

Let me just put it this way.. 2 years ago you were saying you were going to leave and fly another airline.. here it is 2007 and you are still saying it. So much has changed, eh?

When did you have your little roachfest? 3 years ago? Now why not just explain to all of us how much you influenced the operations at US from that meeting. Perhaps you missed it in 2004, it's called "lip service" and you got it thick and heavy.

Let's us all know how it goes and what concessions your group gets from your Tempe meetings. I am very interested.

Actually we accomplished a fair amount as I was the lead contact then. Our efforts there were different then now and to refresh your memory, the customers rose up in righteous indignation and got the whole changes that led to the cockroaches rescinded before it was even implemented. Part of the goal in an organization such as ours is to gain access to management at high levels. We had it then we're developing it now. You have to be satisfied with the fact that you're never quite sure whether is was your suggestion that was taken and implemented or if it was something they planned to do anyway. CCY would never give us any credit and I for one didn't really want it.

I will take credit for one thing. We got them to be much more clear and concise with their promotion rules. I have one specific situation where I called a manager and had the verbiage changed on the web page within hours so it was more clear for customers.
You'll know when everyone else knows. All I will tell you is the dialog was frank and open. A great many ideas were exchanged. Some were well recieved some less well recieved. This is Art's baby and I'm here to support him in every way that I can and right now that means keeping my mouth shut. But you have my word that whe will report to ALL the ultimate end result.

In 3 years you will only take credit for having the rules of a promotion changed on a web page? Great stuff.

Because it's NOT about me. It's about ALL who fly and work for US.

What you fail to grasp in your effort to discredit is that getting that change made was the beginning of a fundamental shift in their thinking. You can see the evidence of it in the way Spirit markets. I had the conversations with the person who is now their Chief Marketing Officer.

A lot of this ia heart and mind type sale. When you do this kind of thing your goal is getting them to see things through the customers eyes. When you're successful then you start to see subtle changes.

I hope they realize that the person that is so interested in making them better, spends most of his day, trying to convince employees and travelers that they work for and travel on the worst airline ever! If you really cared, you would take on a more supportive stance! You only care about yourself and try to mask it with an occasional "we love you and all that you do" to the employees that check out this board.

Can't figure out who you care about.

Customers? Don't see it.

Employees? Don't see it.

LOL :) I had a co-worker who was treated very badly by a telephone company. They were so rude, he called back and asked for their physical address. He said "I'll see you tomorrow to discuss this." When he showed up, they were liek "Wtf?" and he held out his badge and said "I work for an airline company, it allows me to fly at the touch of a button." ROFL love it. ;)

Art, I hope you guy's win. If you do maybee the employees will to, this is from someone that hasnt been there for a few years and will gain nothing by whatever the outcome. KICK BUTT!

P.B.,

A lot of these people havent figured that out yet.....doooh.

And if Tempe really cared, they would do something to correct this piece of cr*p airline we've become. I'm sick of the lip service and want action NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And what flavor of THAT would you like?  :p

I guess you must be used to be the laughing stock of Your Community. Fighting to see who's in the cellar isn't something to brag about. Changes need to be made, if not now, how about yesterday. They are running the company like a runaway train, and its employees are the ones keeping the train together, but for how long? How much stress is one to take? Let DoUgIe work the ticket counter. The guy is such a :censored: that he needed his luggage escorted in Philly! How pathetic is he?

It's funny how people have always bagged on SWA for being down market yet all they do is "make money".
Call us what you will- if we make money at the very least we stick around for a bit longer. At the very best- we make money and recoop? some of what we have lost through these last several harsh years.
As far as LCC being the least desirable to hire on with, well that hasn't changed much from the days when everyone and their relative was hired off the streets of PIT. The bases we had to offer were PIT,PHL,BWI and CLT vs.ORD, JFK LAX SFO DEN DFW etc. We were always second tier with hiring.
If someone had a choice between US and UAL who would you go with? It all has to do with the individual. If you like what you do and it shows to the customers you're doing a good job no matter who you work for. We all try our best- whatever that might be.
LCC,SWA,UAL etc it's not what you have to work with it's what you do with it.

This may be slightly off topic. But here in CLT the last class of new hires were just offered full time. Understand most took it. Also a CSS told me last night that all c/s agents on furlough(at least CLT) have been called back at full pay. He said he also was told that all c/s new hires are being offered full time & put on the higher c/s pay scale since this stuff is not working & company unable to hire & keep employees.

PS: On the fleet side we have quite a few in training with more to come. Haven't heard if they are being offered full time, but I've got a feeling.

While I think that our company is in HORRIBLE shape I think it is the employees that rise up everyday and band together to keep the wheels greased on this old and busted machine everyday. I don't think we were running this bad on our darkest day when we all thought it was gonna be lights out. If it weren't for the loyal FF's staying and the workers keeping it running we'd be gone. I can't wait to see what the outcome is to all of this. One can only hope for improvement.
