PHL LECP double dipping just like predecessor?

The same could be said about AFA officers that can hold and bid a monthly block, right? Like CA and folks that get AFA pay and then give the tripsaway to friends or drop to the AIL. I always thought that if you are full time rep you should let someone else get a line.

I also asked about the computer thing...and I was told he uses his own personal computer to get the trips off the ETB...now if he is using the AFA paid internet to connect that’s a problem IMO also.

Andy,

The guy is a schemer and a liar. That's how I know him.

If john is a RSV and can only hold a RSV line in PHL he should not even be getting 80 or 90 hours from AFA Company fpl. He should only be receiving what he can hold. Union leadership jobs are FULL TIME positions. And if the reps who receive FULL FLIGHT PAY LOSS aren't willing to be in the office 5 days a week or at the very least 4 days, and commute home the 5th, then, they should not be reelected. John does not have to defend his position. You guys should collectively know whether the guy is worth all his weight. If he's not spending the time in the office, then he can't possibly have a clue the impact to the f/a group, nor what is going on.

He has too may appointed reps in the office on afa dues. He was elected President, not to be a bystander giving orders, but to represent the f/a group. And, you can only do that by being at the office 4 days and maybe being avl at home on the 5th when commuting home.

If reps aren't willing to do this, they should not run for the seat.

I had 3,000 f/as when I first took office in 2001, and there no way that it didnt' require 5 days a week at the office. Then there was MAA included. And after that, I had 6,000 f/as as the entire active f/a group. The job DEMANDS all your energy. You need a rep that has that commitment to your group, specifically in the airline concessionary/take-all environment. You need someoene who is constantly vigilant, on duty, and committed and a person that the company fears and knows that they are always ahead of the 8 ball..
Hell, they reaised the union dues, and PIT is closing with the bases splitting up that fpl pie.

These guys are taking full advantage of the f/a group and want you guys to stay clueless. You tell jOhn you are looking for a leader who will in the office 4-5 days a week. If he's not willing to fit that bill, he's out of office.

When I was on the MEC, I gave m schedule to the MEC members every single damn week. It stated 4 days at the MEC and 1 day at PIT local. Every single week. Ask any of them who was there. Company knew it too. They knew that if anything went haywire with our group I WAS THE FIRST TO KNOW ABOUT IT AND DEALT WITH IT IN JACK FLASH TIME! The company came to expect it, and you should expect that from anyone you trust enough to pay to represent you!

This is not true! I called the LEC just last week and had a long conversation with GJ about this. She explained that she sees his pay log and has to also sign off on it. He only collects the money from AFA while he is in the office working. He also wecomes anyone to come into the office and see the pay log, and the LEC budget at any time.

I saw him on Thursday of last week in the A West crew room going on a trip. Don't say he doesn't do International trips when he does. This was a Thursday to boot. ALL officers should be there at least until Friday evening.... NOT going on trips during the week!!!!!

There should be no question...its election time. Make your vote count. Anyone would be an improvement. The guy got comforable with his position and as long as he stays important in your eyes, and makes you think he is doing something for you, he knows he has it in the bag.

NONE of them should feel comforable in those priviledged positions that you entrusted to them.

Elections??? Is anyone else running to oust him? I haven't seen or heard anybody trying to run against him.

When you have a large percentage of your membership in dire straights financially, one should not be running around doing as John is doing with such discontent in the work force.

Time for John to go....... and anybody else that is not there for ALL fo the flight attendants 5 days a week.

What good is he doing me when he is in Europe????????

As one of the leaders of a group where I get NO PAY I'm not so sure you have to be in the office 5 days a week. I think a published schedule and being readily available would suffice.

I learned from FFOCUS that "Office Time" is anytime as our members are all over the place even international.

When you're in a leadership role your first obligation is to those you represent, not yourself! Frankly I haven't seen a hell of a lot of that since Teddy left.

On a side note I had the extreme pleasure of being in first on a flight worked by Mr Perkins and he is a first rate F/A. Thanks again Andy for a great trip!

Hy ya bob!

But, the decision of what is accetable or not; or what can or should be tolerated is up to the members in that base. If they think that he is so effective not being in the office and flying trips instead is effective, then so be it.

If the f/a are basically satisfied with the representation in PHL, then so be it...re-elect them...

I know this, those who expect change by not changing the behavior, will always yield the exact same results.

I didn’t say he isn’t doing the trips...I was told he is NOT getting 105 pay from the office.

Bottom line, the f/as should expect their rep to be in the office 4 days a week, and then commute in the evening or on the 5th day if they don't live in base. This is a rep that I would trust knowing they are in there with heart and soul trying to to what is right and what should be expected of anyone in office. It's hard work to strategize and negotiate with the company specifically on a local level. Representing the group and seizing every day making every attempt to improve the group's situation while they are in office should be the endeavor. After all, these seats should not be expected to be life-time positions for anyone. You're elected not to take up space and be some kind of boss; but rather to make a difference.

Thanks Piney, it was a pleasure to meet you.

Regardless, a union official (such as the LECP or LECVP) should be in the office Monday thru Friday with others (volunteers) to cover the weekends. NO UNION OFFICER SHOULD BE GOING ON A 4 DAY INTERNATIONAL TRIP OR A 3 DAY TRIP. I don't care if they are only getting 50 hours of FPL.....

They accepted a postion to represent a membership. Last time I checked this was a full time postiion NOT a part time gig....

Sounds like you guys have a little of what we've got going on out here in the west. Our MEC gets guaranteed 105 hours a month and then when they have a vacation week they get that guaranteed on top of their UB. So 105 UB + 31.30 = 136.30. No big deal if they work IN THE OFFICE THROUGH THEIR VACATION, but no some people choose to take the time OFF as well. THAT is also a form of double dipping. Giving yourself UB when you're not DOING any UB, but sunning yourself on some cruise ship. LAME!

Good luck getting your guy out of office. We're working on doing that out there. Some great people have stepped up to the plate and are running against the incumbents.

What is UB?

I totally agree----how can he run the office when he is 3000 miles away ??

Wait a minute---the same GJ that had an AFA day on Thanksgiving Day when the office was closed ?? Perhaps she was manning the phone but I found it ironic that JM is not on RSV and was probably OFF for that day but she is a RSV and that got her the day off to be home with her family...unless JM was out of the country on an International trip yet again. He needs to address this. We need someone in there we can trust, not someone who can just write a good newsletter.

This is interesting, because at UA many AFA members have the polar opposite view and complain that their AFA reps do not fly enough (or that they don't fly at all), so they can't know what it is really like out on the line.

The pay issue aside, are you sure people wouldn't make that same complaint if this guy stopped flying?
