Pilot job action?!

AA is more arrogant than the pilots, the filing for bankruptcy with 4bil in the bank is clearly an abuse of the system. The icing on the cake is to take every work group to the cleaners and say "this was necessary". Corporate Greed has taken this legacy carrier to the point it is today.

I just put this through my computer's "Whining-to-English" translator and this is what came out -

"I voted yes and now I am bitter. I'm bitter that the pilots may get more money. I hope their effort fails. It will make me feel better about caving and making the idiotic decision to vote for a McDonalds labor contract."

You make it sound like we are all in section 6 openers, rather then sec 1113 BK........... If you lost that sense of entitlement you would probably get more people on your side.

Just like every other airline and every other career, globalization is harsh and so is the case of the rich making the rules that we all have to follow, rich get richer, then they elect one of their own as president.

The bottom line is the pilots are in denial.

This a false reality made up in your own mind to justify your cowardly decision to just bend over and take it rather than fight. "We're in bankruptcy. I have to be raped. It's just the way it is. Boo-hoo. Poor me."

Now you are bitter because someone decided to fight and it will probably pay off and you will look foolish for making the poor decision that you did.

You are belittling your job and harming other employees

So no other group of employees should ever be allowed to strike because it will "harm other employees?" I'm sure our customers were absolutely THRILLED with the operation during the FA CHAOS strike. Let me guess - "that's different."

and do not have an ounce of sympathy with the general public

The public has never sympathized with us in the past and never will. Why try now? Besides, they are being told we are having a "sick out" and they believe it. Get real. If there were a sick out the company would have had a court injunction slapped on us over a week ago.

As is YOU would get any sympathy for wanting a raise or better work rules?

the media

See above answer. The media is reporting a "sick out" which isn't even happening.

or the UCC.

Name one other time in airline bankruptcy history where ANY creditor has EVER sided with a labor group. There hasn't been one. Yet you claim this is some sort of "evidence" that we are doing something wrong.

Your self destructive actions

They are only "self destructive" if we end up worse off. That will not be determined for a while. It is up to the company to decide when it ends.

are unprofessional and by crying wolf every time there is a minor issue

So what is your solution? You think we should not write up maintenance items?

that could be placarded

The decision to placard or replace an item is a maintenance decision, not the captains.

cont.

it is destroying your credibility when there really is a major issue.

How would YOU know the difference? If you think you know better, why don't you submit a whistle blower complaint to the FAA?

I wasn't born yesterday and is it exceptionally clear that what you are doing is a job action.

Well let's see. Pilot staffing levels were several levels beyond critical for the past few months. The FA's medical benefits are changing in a few weeks, so their sick levels are much higher due to everyone getting elective surgeries and procedures done. 11,000 WARN letters were just doled out to the TWU members. Yet, with all of this in mind, all of the cancellations and problems were totally caused by those dastardly pilots doing some sort of chicanery.

So to answer your question - YES, it does appear that you were born yesterday. Any objective person looking at the confluence of crap hitting the fan at AA could come to a more obvious conclusion.

Face it, the pilots are gonna take their medicine just like we all have.

I hate to break it to you, but we are going to get a much better deal while you sit and suck on your LBFO for the next 10 years.

It is not bitterness on my part but extreme arrogance coming from the people who think they are above the realities that have happened at every major airline.

That was a "reality" set by people who slit their own throats and voted yes. We voted no. New reality.

The best outcome I see is that the furniture gets rearranged in your contract but the dollar amount will stay in the same ballpark.

You opinion and $2 will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks. I will be more than happy to come back after we get a better deal and CONSTANTLY remind you of that.

I am extremely happy with my yes vote because for my particular work group, we keep our duty rigs, got a small signing bonus and get an increase in pay and expense money until USAir and AA merge.

You voted yes to a horrible contract. Not only were the terms horrible, but most of it wan't even in enforceable language. You are going to be AA's beotch for the next 10 years. Good luck with that USAirways merger, if it ever even does come to fruition.

The pilots on the other hand will start standing by for that first class seat on the 777 for your breaks and will lose all your current duty rigs in one month. You will get that all back after the merge but after that your credibility will take much more time to be regained.

All more wishful thinking from a flag-waving pilot hater. Sorry, but we're going to get a better deal. Live with it.

Could some of the animosity between FA's and Pilots right now be due to the fact of the excess cancellations that those that fly high time are losing lots of pay due to higher than average cancellations. Almost every other group is getting forced into overtime, except for the FA crews that are stuck on a an airplane full of passengers and not getting paid. Then the trip cancels and their big fat three day turns into a T/A?

collateral damage...they voted yes with no language in place

Nancy, you are talking out of the side of your mouth. High time flyers actually will have pay protection once the new contract is fully in place. They wil get sequence protection up to 100 hours of their schedule, versus current 70 hour guarantee. Unfortunately that will not go into effect until after the Preferrential Bidding System is in place. Under the old contract, high time flyers get screwed during a cancellation until the end of the month.

Do you have any idea what you are talking about or do you enjoy posting unintellectual pablum? That $4 billion "in the bank" is not even AA's money. Its collateral money. Unlike the other carriers which filed for BK with DIP financing, AA was able to secure $4+ billion before filing for BK. This gives AA more "room to beathe" and better financing (lower interest rates, etc.) then trying to get fnancing while in BK.

Its like taking a $20,000 personal loan, putting into a personal savings account and then telling saying: "look people, I have $20,000" in my savings account.

Some of the false comments here.... 🙄

I think it will be interesting to read the comments once the company begins interpreting the "agreement" as they see fit (because of no language in place). There is a big difference in choosing to fly high time and being forced to fly. If there were some protections in place to ensure more efficient pairings and limits on legs flown....... still, for the most part being a f/a is still a pretty good gig...

Enjoy your pay cut.....

Glad to see that your one who says I am glad just to have a job.

YOUR Some one who does not believe that he deserves to be compensated for what he does.

Now you have shown all of us here who read your post, that you will just take it because your not willing to fight for the $$$$ which puts food on the table for your family. Not willing to stand up for what is right, for your workmates. The public cares nothing about us and will walk right on by when we show a fight. I know because I have walked a picket line.

No, I'm the one who is pragmatic and realizes that management ain't all bad, and union ain't all good. I realize that there are many people who work hard, whose jobs can be thrown away by my actions. Fighting for a new contract is one thing, participating in actions sure to eliminate EVERYONE's livelihood is another.

You lose buddy........you don't get it, but you will. If you don't like the contract or pay or the company you work for QUIT. ITS THAT SIMPLE. STOP BEING ARROGANT AND THINKING YOU ARE SPECIAL AND THAT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO BRING AN ENTIRE COMPANY DOWN BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH YOUR CONTRACT. You know, like the rest of the world has to do? You wonder why the public doesn't have the pilots backs.

Jesus.......no one gets it.

Cheers,
777 / 767 / 757
