Don't know how many PIT F/As and pilots frequent this board but just wanted to get a rough idea where everyone might be going and what they're thinking of doing...........
Forgot to put a space on there for anyone who has had enough and is planning on quitting.....

You also need to add if they are a flight attendant or a pilot, not both...
Remember, people can and will vote just to fudge the numbers...

You forgot to add "I am quitting"....

Talked to a few that are throwing in the towel.

And let's not forget many are in Mourning.........wearing Black Veils and arm bands. (it really IS a shame but NO ONE should really be surprised).

A friend of mine based in PIT said that some of them are wearing their wings upside down to symbolize the fact that their life have been turned upside down....wonder how many people are looking at them and saying ...Uh, did you put your wings on in the dark ???

Uh, yes they did, if no one saw this coming.

WN is always hiring, maybe even for PIT.

Well, since the subject is wings upside down, then you must be responding to pilots and flight attendants. SWA hiring in PIT will not help these two groups unless SWA opens a PIT crewbase. Doubtful, and even if they did, not very helpful given the newhire status of crew members going to SWA.

True those that left for WN would have to start at the bottom. Well that goes for any airline really. With that being said though, consider how fast you'd move up there. I have two friends that left here over two years ago. They were line holders before they knew it. See even though you start over you move up quickly at just about EVERY other airline except Usassways. It's constant cut and consolidate here why our competition from true LCC's to legacy airlines grow and expand. The fear some have of starting over should truly be outweighed by the growth and movement you'd experience somewhere else. If I were still living in PIT and that opportunity were to arise I'd jump on it considering the mess US and PIT employees are now in.

That's GREAT, I like that! After the former US went thru the Infamous Holiday Meltdown of 2004, I also wore MY wings upside down.......used the agage , "Until THEY (Mgmnt) turn it around I won't turn mine around either". A simple jesture like this does garner a lot of attention. (American's F/A's did this during contract negotiations on several occassions). In the grand scheme of things it accomplishes nothing, but it sure as hell sends a message loud and clear to the public about how you feel about the Company. The plight of these PIT crewmembers will effect everyone whether ANY of us like it or not.......choice of trips, vacation, bids and seats on airplanes, etc. (A base closure has far reaching implications).

Many base closings have far reaching implications-not just one base.

Whatever you do, remember the old saying, "Bid what you want; but want what you bid."

For example, you might be able to hold a higher-positioned block in one base as compared to another, but what does that really mean? In the case of LGA and BOS, where there is only the narrow-body Airbus, it could mean a block of 1-day Shuttle trips that aren't commutable on at least one end. (DCA also has a lot of Shuttle flying, but also has 737 time. And DCA is getting more blocks in the new pilot bid, while BOS and LGA are not.)

That, combined with hotels that are expensive and/or far away from the airport, or overpriced, overcrowded crash pads has had many people regretting their bids.

Look at the commute, as well. There are only four flights a day between PIT and BOS, and two are RJ's. And on Saturday, the last departure from either city is around 3:30 p.m. Another night in the hotel. LGA does a little better with six each way during the week (3 RJ's), with the last Saturday flights around 4:00. In contrast, there are eight weekday flights between PIT and CLT, all of them mainline. (They do run several flights on RJ's on weekends.) You can get from PIT to CLT as late as 7:10 p.m. on Saturday, and there is an A321 from CLT to bit every day at 10:10 p.m.

The point is, a block ain't all it's chalked up to be, if the lifestyle that accompanies it stinks.

Sounds to me like you are trying to push people to go to CLT. Fact is the best possible commute situation is still PHL with SW as a backup.
Just my opinion...
