Just a general question about Delta... where are the heavy maintenance facilities located?

DL doesn't do any Heavy Checks anymore. 767/757 were farmed out to ACTS in Vancouver. They are having a hard time keeping up so Timco has started a line of 757 in Lake City Fl and a 767 line will soon start in GSO. The two lines of Md88/90 were sent to Avborne (formerly Sabertec) in MIA. DL still does PSV, letter checks and engine overhauls in ATL. We closed our DFW and TPA hangars. We have major line work in various cities.

Hold on a moment.. What do you mean DL doesn't do heavy Mtc? I know of one MD88, fresh out of HMV, that flew one flight and upon landing in ATL had to be overhauled.. Make no mistake about it Mtc at DL does do heavy mtc, just not on paper. "GROWING PAINS". 🙄 LOL

No DL mechs don't do Overhauls anymore. We do Afterhauls now. I know the MD88 you are thinking about. It had over 40 write ups when it was looked at over at DNTC. The flight controls were the biggest problem. Seems like some pulleys were missing and the rig was tighened up to compensate for the slack. I think they ended up changing all the main flight control cables. Doors were out of rig and the the entire pack system leaked from all the clamps. I can only guess how well the sheetmetal work was done.

These guys doing our work are serious hacks. Before this is over one of these airplanes will be a smoking hole. All just to save a buck. Our leaders give great lip service to how safety is important but the bottom line is all they care about.

DalMD88 We are about to enter into a new era of aviation, one we have'nt seen for some time. 🙁

The hits just keep coming. We just had a 767 fresh out of an Air Canada overhaul with a gear problem. It was just ferried to ATL. The pin holding the drag brace had come loose and was backed out six inches. If that had come all the way out the gear would have collapsed. I took a look at the logbook last night. The number of write ups was appalling for a ship less than a week out of overhaul. There were problems with galley and lav water and numerous seats broken. Someone should lose their job over this. If this keeps up we will make a smoking hole somewhere.

boy it sure sounds an awful lot like when US Airways' Airbus first came out of the Alabama facility with numerous problems including a few emergency landings. wonder why the FAA never checks those idiots out
