==========================================================

chillers,

NOT good, but NOT surprising !

Probably just the TIP of the ICEBERG !

It was forcast,(back in the early 90's) by AA's Greatest "PROPHET" that "The cattle, that were spread out all over AA's "huge Ranch", would (fairly soon) be "herded" into a very few number of "pens" !!!

(Former moderAAtor),
Help me if you would.
I seem to have forgotten the name of the AA PROPHET. 🙄 🙄 🙄

Chillers, The key in your statement is the word (could), until the 28th of this month - a rumor is only a rumor. B)

Over the last few weeks we've heard rumors about reductions or station closeings at SNA,MSP,IAD,AUS, and DEN. Also, at the last union meeting, our local president told us in so many words that another substantial layoff is inevitable, but hey, "it's thier company and they can run it the way they want". We are supposed to be getting the guys from RNO here in the next few weeks, a bunch of new Bchk slots went up for bid the other day and now we hear that our regular bid is being postponed until the RNO guys are here so they can bid with us....But no word on any of this from our union.

How many AMT's are at each of these (and RDU) stations?

Thanks.

Don't know the numbers off hand but I do know that SNA hasa one station agreement with LAX. Which means that anyone laid off at SNA would go straight to LAX.

The rumors we here are: the 0922 card only stations will be eliminated. Take your pick of rumors. staffing is as follows give or take a head or two - CCs included.

MSP 21
DEN 34
RDU 30
SNA 14
AUS about 50
DTW 18
BNA 19
PHL 13
IAD 16
IAH 7
BDL 9

Now thats off the top of my head; however, it should be fairly accurate. Most of these guys are protected, so the company really wouldn't be saving much by taking them out of their current locations. Don't forget MCO & TPA, they have about 10 each former TWA AMTs. Bottom line, all this is just speculation at best. Check your station dashboard, how have you been performing? Does it compare favoribly with other stations? Does your station do any contract MX? How much? All this will be looked at, and considered. Like I said before, NOBODY will know for sure until the 28th of Mar. B)

SNA: 2 CC/11 AMT/1 Stock
MSP: 3/17/2
IAD: 4/12/2
DEN: 4/29/3
AUS: 4/33/3

If stations the size of AUS & DEN are being closed down, I'd be surprised.

IAH, BDL, SAT, and PHL are about the same size (or smaller) as SNA, MSP and IAD, so it wouldn't surprise me to see them on a list somewhere as well.

Presumably, IAD would be in a one-station agreement with DCA, but that's just speculation on my part.

Don't be surprised. RENO was the first.
And if the results of the PLI are an indication, then these class 2 stations are history. AA wants to see how it compares to other airlines. I can tell you this, right now at this place in time, AA has more outstations maintenance staffed than any other airline.

True, most of the mechanics are protected and will be paid $12,500 according to the contract. But there are Class I stations running with mechanic shortages and could eventually be filled as a result of layoffs saving AA the cost of putting laid off mechanics back on the payroll.

If and when mechanics are pulled from these stations, then pilots will be made aware that they should not write up non-airworthy items in and out of those airports.

No more field trips at 1.5 pay BFD

Geez Hopeful,

I don't know what PLIs you've been looking at, but my inside info on stations that will be scrutinized/hit doesn't include 3 of the stations you mentioned. There are some stations that have a bad reputation/history - they should take the WARN letter seriously. Class one shortages? There are people on the recall lists for every class one station.

Look, line MX needs to come up with 23 million in savings minus whatever the value of closing RNO is. Figure a couple million or more. This includes: DFW, ORD, MIA, SFO, STL, LAX, LGA etc. and throw in 20 or so class twos for roughly 3000 AMTs - the pain can be spread out fairly easy without putting too much of a hurt on anybody. Hell the class ones could make most of that up by doing some contract maintenance along with the class twos. Contract maintenance vendors at AA outstations are almost non-existant and suspect at best. We are constantly asked by other carriers to come and bail them out - JettCare or some other fly-by-night outfit botched a job up - got in over there head. AA is on to something by keeping line MX at outstations - could be very profitable if we are the only reliable show on the field. 😉

Bring CEO and executive pay down to earth.
When those bums manage a profitable airline then they can get thier over inflated salaries back. If they dont like the pay cuts go work for Symantec. The working class gave enough. AA can kiss my arse for 23 million or 23 cents.

Geez Hopeful,...

What priority is given to getting these contract calls taken care of? Or is it done grudgingly, we are busy and can't be bothered? I don't mean from the management side, I mean from the amt's point of view.
