Rumor mill turns

Just the indignity of it. I can understand someone watching them pack their personal belongings and making sure no phone calls are made elsewhere while they still have company documents nearby, but let them walk out on their own and perhaps follow at a discreet distance.

That said I was never a fan of Sherri.

Being "escorted off the property" is just a dramatic interpretation of the actual process involved when an employee leaves. Because the employee has an Airport Badge/Company ID that has to be displayed on their person at all times while they are on Airport property in secured areas, as the employee leaves for the last time, they must wear the Badge/ID displayed on their person out of the secured areas, then retrieved. I would think that all employees working in the Sand Castle also have to have ID's displayed for Security reasons also....that's how RIDC/Crystal City operated. Change is in the air....a little overdue...but you gotta start somewhere! Let's hope they can deliver this promise!

Let this be notice to the rest of inflight. No one is safe even the boot lickers that have spent 10 years plus floating along on the skirts of Cheryl Lendvay, Sherry Groff and the likes. Here today gone tomorrow and some of you need to go sooner than later!
Get that resume on Monster.com...you know who you are.

ROTFLMAO! Are you putting PK on notice? LOL. How much do you want to bet that PHL will be understaffed in May?

The preservation of one's dignity is entirely up to the person's boss. And, maybe, has something to do with the level of trust in the person who is leaving too.

Those who know my story know that I left EN under less-than-wonderful circumstances, although in the end, I did actually resign. If either party had wanted to go down the path, my physical departure could have been quite an ugly scene. Even though I was resigning, it was not entirely voluntary, and I was very upset.

I was allowed to pack 18 years worth of accumulated tchotchke, remove from my files any personal items and to leave my office without the indignity of someone scowling over my shoulder the entire time. I amicably reviewed with my boss the contents of my filing cabinet, explained where some legally-sensitive stuff was located and what it was about in case it was needed, made sure copies of reports and the processes for generating them were explained for the next user, was allowed to change my e-mail to inform people that I'd left the company, and then (a little tearfully) handed in my SIDA and employee ID badges and left the building -- without someone glaring at me the whole time and without an escort to my car.

All of that took place over the course of several hours without pay since I had already been off of the payroll for quite a while by that point.

So it can be done with dignity even in a negative situation.

confirmed .. sherrie shamblin is no longer employed at usairways..i had high respects for her. as i worked closely wit her on some things and i wish her luck on her endeavors .. i am telling you know . things at inflight are going to get alot more interesting .. we had a good ride while it lasted . accountablity is coming to the f/a ranks. those who get away with crap will no longer be able too. i this does not bother me one bit as i do my job. but those wh like to cut corners in service and are lazy will see a change.

So please tell us ETOPS, what koolaid was Sherri serving you? It must of had a Finlandia floater! Where the heck have you been? Good ride? Are you kidding me?
As for us here in Phoenix, I think we just had an injection of morale. It couldn't get worse than her!

Not sure about the east, etops, but here on the west it seems the inflight department does a pretty good job of "bringing accountability to the FA ranks" in PHX. We get called in for every little thing and I mean every little thing.

Wonder who will replace her?

You have got to be kidding me. Can you tell me one thing that was implemented correctly during her stay here?

Most F/As do their job correctly and don't worry about accountability. 9 out 10 F/As on the line could have done a better job than her.

What if the resume includes Head Waitress at the Sea Shell Lounge?
AH.......the old Sea Shell Lounge, close to the crash pad when I was a new hire. Had a couple there a few times back in the day. Just to think that contracts were done their way back when, the company gets alittle, the employees get alittle, more civil and happier times.

you know very well. that is not true. peeps here at airways do what they want when they want. procedure and accountability? those words don't exist here. and that starts from the top down. this whole airline is a joke compared to other airlines out there.

Do you actually fly the line? On my trips I see most of the big stuff done correctly. I'm not a F/A, so I can't say they say the exact verbage on the doors correctly, or read an announcement exactly, but on the things I deal with them, they do a good job. They have dealt with stupid decisions from above and made the system work. I watch the boarding process and am amazed we can get an airplane off the gate at all, much less on time.

You are correct that it starts from the top. For the beating this group has taken it's amazing what the troops produce. When I brief a crew I tell them that I'm that they are a valuable part of the crew and that I will help them with all I can. I rarely have an issue with them.
