Seniortiy

Light Years said:
LOL! Good Girl, if I'm correct is an E-Division F/A, which would mean they are less than five years... that ain't no dinosaur, that's a fetus in US Airways years!

This entire thread is pretty disgusting. I really hope it's all just silly mudslinging, cos if it does happen, and AFA changes it and then gets decertified, it's going to get very very ugly.

Seniority is all you have. Fight when the company is trying to take it away, don't fight to take someone else's away.

Close enough, but I do have over 5 years and under 10 - you are so right fight when they try to take your seniority away - this is unreal.

Man , i don't know. rumblings/rumors from wall st. appear that one or two investors are having second thoughts on this merger due to oil........time will tell.

Hear, hear! Thank you. I would rather have a job milking venomous snakes instead of working with US employees. This will not be fun. Let's hope for long and very high fences. Good fences make good neighbors.

Hold on a second here......The employees of US have all been through hell and back, and till you've walked in their shoes....don't judge them! We are not Bad people over here, yes we've had BAD MANAGEMENT happen to us for years now but deep down we are dedicated employees who have been given a BAD RAP for a few bad seeds! Yes, we are a more senior group of people, but don't blame the employees for that one too! We all started our careers a little earlier than you did, oh well. You cannot penalize us for that, fair is fair and you would want the same thing if you were in the same position! And yes, I STRONGLY agree that AWA would of eventually disappeared into another Legacy carrier sooner than later, especially now with current situations happening! AWA is simply a regional carrier with limited reach and capacity, with US's Global presence and worldy name that was the best way to go! AWA employees should be thankful that Legacy carriers like AA, DAL, and NWA weren't the one's interested in acquiring them, because there would be no talk of seniority issues, they would have all been stapled to the bottom of the list till they eventually shrunk PHX down to a functional hub to fit their route structures! So don't kiss a gift horse in the mouth, this is the best thing that could EVER happen to little ole AWA!

Taking your spin a little further..Parker & Lakefield have probably started the merger wave. Everyone has been saying there will be consolidation, why not start it so that it goes the way that most benefits your organizaition and people. AA, DL, and NW would be nothing but destructive to US or HP.

Exactly, let's count our blessings on move forward with this thing!

So true! I wouldn't want to work with the Sky N-aa-zis either! LOL

I'd rather work with US Air Folks. I have already worked with former US F/As in Phoenix and they were easy to work with.

I remember when HP was in bancruptcy during the early 90s, United was going to buy us. (Buy not Merge ) and our Flight Attendants were thrilled! (I am thankful that they didn't buy us) However now that we are merging with US Air some HP folks are against it. I don't get it ! My guess is the junior ones are against this.

I'm all for it ! I have 20 years under my belt, I'll get bumped and I will also bump others, so I really don't care. 🙂

As long as I get a paycheck, I have a flexible schedule and our AFA gives us a good contract. I don't care! Let's Merge and make this successful !

True that Boston - lets make this a great place and kick the crap out of every other airline out there!!! AND WE WILL!!! now with USAir global presence and AWA's Hawaii and mexico and alaska we can conquer alot more than standing alone.. lets do it together and smile while were doing it.. That will really make them mad... We are a team now lets - do this and show the rest who we are!!!

Looking forward to working with all!!!!

That is very sad because if it weren't US you would be on the unemployment right next to US....... I hope your attitude changes because it will be one for one there is no way around it..............

We already have alot of former US/Air employees working for America West and you "ARE" already working with them. I have flown with 6 of those F/As so far and they are very pleasant people to work with. Your comment is totally inappropriate.

If the AW people want to slot......fine with me! This is how it will go!.......

1983 USAirways F/A's
Then under them the 1983 AW F/A's
The 1984 USAirways F/A's
Then the 1984 AW F/A's
and so forth and so on.........
See how slotting can just be really ugly? It's all a moot point really. If the bylaws are changed AFA will be out at USAirways and Teamsters in. The union with the larger population survives and then it gets really ugly for the AW F/A's.

Lets all be fair and agree to what the rules in the bylaws state. DOH PERIOD.

This is the second time you have refered to voting out AFA and voting in Teamsters. Obviously, I am new to this forum. I am guessing that US F/A's are unhappy with AFA. What gave US the impression that HP likes AFA? HP is the redheaded stepchild of AFA. Pat Friend all but despises (sp) us. I for one would be happy to see AFA gone.

This is my opinion of AFA with regards to other things besides DOH. If you are not in the top two airlines to be bringing in the money you are basically ignored. Pat hates that we at HP voted to not relect our former MEC Pres and now will not give us the time of day.

Maybe when this is all said and done we can find a union that will support us all. AFA is not always the answer. There are other unions out there and I am more than willing to look at options that benefit every group of senority.

Didn't Frontier voted AFA out ? Maybe we should do the same thing. Vote AFA out ! We should have an In-House Union.

They were never unionized, the AFA had an election at Frontier and they were not succesful.

And trust me, if you are an employee at will the company is free to do whatever they want to you when they choose.

Just ask the US Airways agents what happened in 1992 to them.

Actually I think that AFA generally does a good job and you should support your union since you will be in the new USAIRWAYS and now will be a big money maker for the union.. trust me you don't want teamsters but if it comes down to it.... They will put you in DOH at teamsters and then tell you to stop your whining on the way out the door because they don't want to listen to the crap - They are pretty tough -
