What's new

Seniortiy

First of all TWA was IAM and they voted away their LPPs in bankruptcy and the AA FAs are APFA.

You are comparing apples to oranges.

hp_fa, would you rather have a merger with those stapler-wielding Sky NAAzis?
[post="295742"][/post]

I don't have need to characterize them as that, so I won't. However, I have no desire to merge with AA if that was the question. I'd rather try and go it alone until some airline liquidates and try and pick up some pieces that way.

In relative terms, HP is still attractive to investors. Costs are low and there is a relatively stable and happy workforce (absent all the present distractions). Above all, we have happy customers.

You are delirious to think that HP has financial strength over US - your not worth the argument or my time...

Say what? Care to explain your thinking?

I would get used to the idea of long fences. If not, get used to the idea of your AFA dues going to defend a duty of fair representation suit. I'm pretty sure the AFA group probably learned something from TWA--not to wait until it's too late.

From the perspective of someone who has at "at-will" job, this idea that the US workgroup should suddenly reap a windfall due soley to length of service, epecially in light of the relative financial strength of HP versus US at the time of the merger, is either hilarious or outrageous.

Also TWA was bought out by AA so they could be stapled which is what would happen to you or me if we don't merge. There is always a darker side.

Yes, Dino, I do prefer to work in the aft galley. I seriously doubt that we will ever work together though.

You do raise an interesting point though. At America West, we bid for the positions we want to work. When we meet in the briefing room, we are not required to change positions unless the two flight attendants agree. Is it different at US Airways? Do you actually bully each other around? It seems that would create a hostile work environment.

What makes you think that Matt is a friend of mine? I have never met him, nor do I agree with everything he says. In fact, I had not read his letter until you mentioned it. I found it to be somewhat inflammatory and downright derogatory. Matt does not speak for all HP FAs. But, I do recognize his right to his opinion. I'm sure you all have heard horror stories about America West FAs, also.

Through various encounters with US Airways FAs, I have always found them to be extremely friendly and kind -- much like the America West flight attendants. Yes, there are a few bad apples, but then that is just society.

Now, I have tried to be nice to you. I challenge you to be nice, also, and just answer the posting in a more professional manner.

Most of our f/as are friendly and kind - I don't know Matt and if you don't either better for you since I am sure he will be talked to about what he has done if not reprimanded more than that. We for the most part are a nice group of people to work with - there are the exceptions though....

hp_fa, you are correct in regards to AWA being "more attractive" to investors than US. However, let's be realistic, the only thing "attractive" to investors in the airline business these days flies around in livery in Canyon blue and baby sh*t yellow; the rest are just a big ole mess.

I pray Parker kills the deal and you can fight about seniority in the unemployment line.

Hear, hear! Thank you. I would rather have a job milking venomous snakes instead of working with US employees. This will not be fun. Let's hope for long and very high fences. Good fences make good neighbors.

Don't argue! Hey, you started it.  I asked a question, you came back with pure nastiness.  And, even though my light bulb may be a little dim at times, at least I don't have to deal with an extinguished flame - or was candle wax even invented when you started - or even fire discovered for that matter, you old dinosaur. Now, if you'll just post your address, I'll send you a basic grammar and punctuation book, as well as a dictionary.  Until then, you are being ignored.

LOL! Good Girl, if I'm correct is an E-Division F/A, which would mean they are less than five years... that ain't no dinosaur, that's a fetus in US Airways years!

This entire thread is pretty disgusting. I really hope it's all just silly mudslinging, cos if it does happen, and AFA changes it and then gets decertified, it's going to get very very ugly.

Seniority is all you have. Fight when the company is trying to take it away, don't fight to take someone else's away.

Get ready to say goodbye then. Your type, we don't need nor want. Goodbye now.

Venomous snakes? Good lord. You go get some therapy while everyone else goes on with life, enjoying new faces to have a beer with in Albany or Tuscon.

Weren't you the same who wrote the following:

"Run scared little girl. That is what you sound like. Everything you are saying that the US f/as are afraid of is reaking from your veins. We are still the big boys and always will. The AWA f/as are a mere fraction of our size. You will be lost in the suffle if you continue to play hard ball. You have what, 2,400 f/as? We have over 9,000. Furloughed or not we have them. Don't rock the boat to hard, you WILL sink it."

Perhaps it is your attitude that is not needed. Sounds like you just want happy joy with your new coworkers.

What in the he!! does that previous post have to do with this post??????? Absolutely nothing!!!! I NEVER said I'd rather BLAH BLAH than work with US or HP employees....did I??? NO! Learn to read and stop trying to stir up trouble. The previous post says SOME are running scared about the merger with their posts. We are not running scared. Stop blaming the US employees for defending themselves.
