For employees it seems to have been a good last couple of weeks. Employee Recalls, EMB 190 order to be flown by mainline, 3 757's acquired and new Europe routes! Merger moving along (except for the union fight) and the big news ties not mando for East CSRs!
All in all I have lots of faith in this management team and while there will be issues they always seem to learn and keep moving forward. Would love to hear what other employees think of things so far!

Everything else is great, but put your tie on and act like a grown up professional. Come on now.

A lot of my friends who are customer service still wear the ties because of the professionalism it shows. I see people here and there without them walking around the terminal, but for the most part everyone is still wearing them.

 Personally, I think with the current uniforms, tie OFF looks terrible. Until we get our NEW uniforms, I say status quo, ties should stay ON. Just my opinion....

I,am glad to hear that. Wearing a tie looks so much better.
I may be old school. But it,s a much cleaner look.

Smoke and mirrors. It's going to be a long road to hoe.

Good luck the Al's..and Doug.

Professionalism (and being a grown up) doesn't come from wearing a tie. And no tie does not mean unprofessional. Come on now.

Anybody in this business that thinks wearing a tie is important to be a professional is why LCC is where it is. The customers don't care what you wear, or even how experienced you are. They only want CHEAP!

The Aviator shirts were not made to be worn without a tie! Therefore they look awful when no tie is worn! I think ties should stay until we get shirts that are made to be worn without a tie!

Loooking cheap, being cheap, and having low fares are three different things. Alot of people dont want to be cheap or even appear so. Some people just are, its how they feel about themselves in general.

Lower the fares, thats what they want. Not wearing a tie doesnt make you an LCC, nor does wearing one make you stuffy.

The current shirt looks awful without a tie, it wasn't made for that. It just looks unkempt, like we either dont care or are trying tragically to be something we're not.

Trying to get a senior workforce used to seeing itself as a major to act like a halfhearted, behind-the-times budget airline is not not going to work. They serve business markets and should act businesslike. Not over the top amenities, just consistent and businesslike.

"Wow, US Airways has a crappy paintjob that look like a Photoshop job, the planes are dirty and those wacky employees dont wear ties! They are so laid back and cool, such a low cost carrier!" Like I said, acting cheap or relaxed doesnt make the fares any more rational and it certainly doesnt attract business... in fact it drives it away in the markets they serve (at least in the East).

I am NOT an advocate of ties WHEN and again WHEN we get a new uniform that is condusive to wearing no ties, but come on people...I hate to be stereotypical, but your average heterosexual man doesn't even know how to dress on a good day, but tell him to wear no tie? This is stupid!! These "men" look shabby, sloppy, and unprofessional. At least with a tie the unkept shirts were not as noticable, but with no tie?

No gay employees would EVER look so horrible. Come on Doug, go to a Spectrum meeting or gather the boys who will stir the uni in the right direction. I am too embarrassed and for those that have the f--- u attitude..which many have..and those poor straight men who know no better? Oh, God, thank God the f/a's haven't adapoted the policy..BUT, I promise you we would put some starch in the shirt and iron it..Geez!!! POOR!!!

The legend among f/as is that the current uniform could only have been devised by a male, hetero PIT FA. Always got a laugh out of that.
There are some guys walking around with MULLETS

What in the hell!!!!! Come on people this isn't 1977 and we're not porceline china dolls. The "polished image" is GONE right along with having one foot in the grave and bordering on chapter 7. It is all in how you carry yourself, some people look good without the tie and some people look horrible. If you want to wear the tie then WEAR it!! For those who do not want to wear it then DO NOT WEAR it, at least they are giving us the option and throwing us a bone. BIGGER FISH TO FRY RIGHT NOW!!!!
