Lol. People still use BlackBerrys in 2013? Only a small handful of people at my firm have Blackberries, many of the strongest BlackBerry proponents made the switch years ago. Is that an IAMAW provides smartphone? Seriously I post on my iPhone while at airports, restaurants, and in meetings without the mistakes you do, so you need to educate yourself on how to effectively use your device.

Josh
I guess you didnt use the Spelling or Grammar check, now did you?

Maybe you need to educate yourself on how to effectively use your device.

LMAO.

Well, if you want to talk tech, I suggest you know what you're talking about....

The reason many corporations still use Blackberry are pretty clear.  BES.  By default, the data on my device is routed via VPN to my company's servers, not the mobile provider's.  That allows access to company websites automagically, something that the operational sup's at an airline rely heavily on, since most of the resource planning and customer management tools have web interfaces to get realtime data.

Since that type of data is highly sensitive and can even fall under privacy laws or standards, they won't open up firewalls so that someone can access it on an iPad or iPhone...

Blackberry is also the only OS which meets the most stringent corporate data security requirements.  Sure, you can turn on encryption with iOS, but you can also turn it off....  A corporate Blackberry via BES can be set up as a managed device, so the end user doesn't have full rights to turn on/off features.

For whatever reason, our security policy disables LBS at boot-up, and I have to turn it on manually after a battery-pull.  Likewise, I can't set up application permissions for some features, and some apps can't be installed at all.

There are other features, too.... Blackberry doesn't enable screenshots... by design.

One of the airline's I've been working with came up with an app to allow FA's to download passenger manifests and other info to their smartphones, thinking it was a great tool to improve service.

Great idea, right? Unfortunately, they also found out they're in violation of their own security policy because of that, and that FA's can and do take screenshots of VIP's and brag about it on Facebook or other social media outlets....

The same can be done with a confidential email on an iOS device.  Can't do that on Blackberry.  Also can't forward a confidential email on Blackberry, or copy the text using the clipboard.

I'm sure whatever mails you're saving on your iPhone aren't important enough to protect with that level of security.

Mine for work, however, are.

So please, do feel free to talk down about the device someone else is using, but at least be educated as to why they might be using something you consider antiquated.

You are seriously going to flame someone for what kind of device they use?

Of course you had to somehow tie the tired old IAM sux troll food into it.

Get over it man.

Edit:

I forgot to add the gratuitous "lol" like you did, so here it is. Not only that, but you made a spelling error while pointing out that he makes mistakes.

Lol

Speaking of LOL.....you ever going to grow a set and answer the question?

DL still issues them to mgmt. employees... You can spot them a mile away; they're the ones reflexively grabbing for their hips every few minutes...
Yep! I'm sure Delta management is the only management group, in the world, reaching for their hips !

By the way, the President of the United States uses a BlackBerry.

Excuse me I was posting from my BlackBerry while attending a charity event for Cystic Fibrosis.

And like I said, joshie, you are just the master of misinformation.
what does a crackberry have to do with arguing in one post that Josh works for AA and then arguing in another that he has no industry experience?

Seems to me that it is apparent where the misinformation lies and it isn't with Josh.

Dell is absolutely right.
Wal-Mart isn't a slave owner. Its employees agree to work for terms that they could choose to reject by walking away - just as the supplier that decided it wasn't interested in doing business with Wal-Mart did.

In a recovering job market where opportunities are scarce especially for unskilled labor, where else should the people are Wal Mart go?  Not everyoe can work for Costco at $11.50 an hr to start and health benifits.  Which begs the question.  Why is it Costco can pay well and make a profit and Wal-Mart et-al cannot?

I am aware that supply and demand has an effect on wages (which is why Wal-Mart and others can pay so little) and I am not saying that they are slave owners.  They are definitly taking advantage of the situation and trying to eeek out the largest profit they can at the expense of the emplyees.  It's their right but I do not agree with it which is why I have not set foot in a Walmart in ages.  I get mostof my goods from Costco and produce comes from a local farmers market.  We only use the grocery store for things we cannot find at previously mentioned locations.  We may pay a few bucks more at the farmers market but at least my money will not help support WalMart.

Maybe Wal Mart should start selling memberships.

Do they have employee discounts at Costco?

From what I read, no in store discount versus a 10% discount at Walmart.  Significantly better health benefits at Costco as well.  So let me ask you, if you were needing a job and Costco offered you $11 an hour plus medical, would you turn it down in favor of a Walmart job that paid 27% less, but offered you a 10% discount on the things you bought there?

I would take the Walmart job in lew of "No Job", then look be looking for another, as I am a realist and know you cannot support a family simply by stocking shelves or pushing buttons on a cash register !

That's fine for you.  I was responding to Dell's comment that Costco ain't all it's cut out to be because their employees don't get a store discount and Walmart employees do.  I think that argument was posted because Tree asked how come Costco could offer better pay and benefits and still make a profit.  Maybe you could answer that....how come Costco can provide starting pay that is 27% higher than Walmart and offer better medical, yet still make a profit?
