From what I read, no in store discount versus a 10% discount at Walmart.  Significantly better health benefits at Costco as well.  So let me ask you, if you were needing a job and Costco offered you $11 an hour plus medical, would you turn it down in favor of a Walmart job that paid 27% less, but offered you a 10% discount on the things you bought there?

I bet Costco has high deductible low cost HC which is virtually useless unless you need a frontal lobotomy and exceed your deductible in one fell swoop. Without a catastrophic illness, its just like not having insurance.
Just like Obama care bronze and silver.

And believe me, I would and have evaluated 'bennies' before accepting jobs.

I had to laugh while searching for Walmart medical benefit plans...in their own benefits book, they had contact information for Medicaid offices in all 50 states.

That's fine for you.  I was responding to Dell's comment that Costco ain't all it's cut out to be because their employees don't get a store discount and Walmart employees do.  I think that argument was posted because Tree asked how come Costco could offer better pay and benefits and still make a profit.  Maybe you could answer that....how come Costco can provide starting pay that is 27% higher than Walmart and offer better medical, yet still make a profit?
Simple! Because Costco and Walmart are owned by different owners who decide what their employees are worth!

And you are cool with the fact that Walmart pays their "associates" so little that they refer them to GOVERNMENT health care (Medicaid) in their benefits brochure?  You hate Obamacare, but apparently are cool with picking up the health care costs of employees of one of the biggest companies in America.  I guess that IS one way to keep costs down.

Wal Mart is obligated to provide HC?

You notice the associates at Wal Mart are willing to work for so little? I hear they lock them in the store so they can't look for other work.

Unless you failed to notice, your average Joe is paying relatively high premiums with very high deductibles for non-use of their healthcare to pay for medicaid and medicare...duh.

Why not leave the prior system in place with some minor tweeks and keep middle class America happy and secure in their HC and take on the issue of providing HC for people in need and chooches who just don't care?

You might not have noticed, but for years the average Joe has been paying relatively high premiums for health care.  It might not have dawned on you until later, seeing how you worked for an airline that was providing the bulk (if not all) of your healthcare under your union contract.   No....Walmart shouldn't be obligated to provide healthcare...neither should any other employer.  That's why we should have gone single payor.

But I have to ask....are you cool with Walmart - even BEFORE Obamacare - dumping their health care costs on the taxpayer?  Here is an excerpt from their 2012 benefits package

They probably help them apply for WIC and SNAP at the same time. I am happy for people who want to work. The problem is that WAL-Mart is sometimes the only place people can get a job. We are the ones subsidizing WAL-mart employees benefits while the Corporation makes huge profits. Corporate welfare on a massive scale.

So why don't they run their own companies. Or better yet, go pay them out of YOUR pocket a decent wage for jobs around your house.

I love Communism that thinks paupers should make as much as kings...unless it involves their money!

22k isn't a bad wage unless you have to pay for your condo.

Would you work for $22k?   Nobody says paupers should make as much as kings.  But over the course of 30 years, the king went from making 25 times what the pauper did to making over 400 times what the pauper makes - something isn't right.   And the funny thing I've noticed is that these Lords of the business world had absolutely NOTHING to do with the founding of the company.  The "King" of GE back in the 70's was only paid about 30 times what the average worker made.  Today's "King" makes over 500 times what the average worker makes.  Why is their such a discrepancy?

Outside of Larry Ellision, most founders of companies (Bill Gates, etc) pay themselves what amounts to a stipend and earn much more from the performance of the company.

Secret, secret, I gotta secret. My BASE pay is 28K so cry me a river. My insurance went from $30 a month to $120 a month this year. So keep blowing your high and mighty delusions out your @$$!

But I don't complain because my needs are met, I don't live beyond my means, have an emergency fund bank account, a money market account and live very comfortably. Because believe it or not, my cost of living isn't like NYC's that's why I'm not stupid enough to live there.

NEXT!!!
