Temporary Injunction against USAPA filed today

After actually taking the immense waste of time to look thru the companies filing this one actually gave me a chuckle, on how deep these morons that are in tempe see themselves! publications stressing “safety first” and encouraging union members to “work

safe” are “commonly recognized signals . . . for a work slowdown”). This is an intuitive point,
especially as to pilots. US Airways’ pilots are highly trained professionals and do not need to be
told that they should not fly an unsafe aircraft — they know that. So when USAPA repeatedly
emphasizes safety to its members in the midst of labor negotiations, pilots understand that
USAPA is telling them to slowdown in order to disrupt the operation. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17067903/ns/business-us_business/t/us-airways-ceo-arrested-dui-charge/

"DO NOT NEED TO BE TOLD!" WELL TRY THIS ONE ON DOUG PARKER! IT IS ALSO INTUITIVE Use of Alcohol and Other
Drugs
Drinking and Driving
Alcohol and driving do not mix. The driver
who drinks causes accidents, injuries and
death.
Driving is a serious business that requires
the ultimate in skill and judgment — both of
which are diminished through consumption
of alcohol.
Alcohol seriously reduces your reflexes,
physical control over the vehicle and ability
to recognize dangerous situations.
These combined physical effects make the
drinking driver a dangerous driver. Even
when you may not appear or feel drunk,
alcohol produces a false sense of confidence
in your driving ability.
Open Container
It is a Class 2 misdemeanor for a driver
or passenger to consume or possess
an open container of spirituous liquor in
the passenger compartment of a motor
vehicle while on any public highway or
right-of-way. Passengers riding in a bus,
limousine, taxi or the living area of a motor
home are exempt. Passenger compartment
includes any unlocked compartments or
portable devices within reach of the driver
or passenger. It does not include the trunk
or the area behind the last upright seat of a
vehicle not equipped with a trunk.

I wonder if the SAFETY FIRST message has been taken off the gate signs in PHL. Someone get a picture quick!

As for the rest, don't you know those rules are just for the common folks in their Fords? The elite in their Beemers to Bentleys can do what the want?

I don't know of anyone, most especially Doug, who tried to offer an excuse for his DUI. He took full responsibility, apologized for his poor choice, offered his guilty verdict and the court-imposed penalty for his conduct. The only "special" treatment he received from the toughest sheriff in America was to be kept in an isolated "women's" jail cell which is where Sheriff Joe puts all high-profile/celebrity types for their own protection and also to ensure that the county isn't sued for failing to reasonably protect everyone placed behind bars.

I would also say that if the BOD thought Doug's actions would have warranted removal, or if they were just itching for an excuse, he would have been removed as CEO. However, I would further speculate that they were likely more concerned that Doug would voluntarily resign in the wake of this embarrassing mistake. Doug leaving would have placed US into serious peril and potentially left the company highly vulnerable without his skilled leadership at a critical time. I suspect the BOD had genuine concerns that the 32,000 jobs and the shareholder's value in LCC would be in serious jeopardy had Doug left.

The easy thing would have been for Doug to walk away and live a prosperous and quiet life somewhere out of the limelight. Instead he stayed on to lead the company through its most challenging days which were still to come. There are very few, perhaps none, who could have stepped into the CEO role and given the investors, creditors, vendors and shareholders the confidence needed to not push US back into bankruptcy during the 2008 fuel spike crisis. Someone with an unproven or unreliable track record could not have generated the confidence that Doug brings when people/businesses with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line need to believe in the company's operating plan. Doug, because of his reputation, instills great confidence in those communities. When he says he is confident that US can manage its way through a crisis and return to profitability, those who know him tend to believe him and take him at his word. That intangible trait may well be the only factor that kept US from reentering bankruptcy protection. The analysts were predicting near-certain liquidation of US in late 2008, and yet the investors were willing to take big risks on US in spite of that. Why would that be I wonder?

Did you really earn more than $168K with LCC last year?

And, meantime, I will always be senior...WAY SENIOR...to you, too.

Last year 2010, no, but soooo close it is scary.

2009,2008, uhhmmmm....glad to inform got you beat.

Here is to a prosperous 2011, where you are likely to beat me again, because I have been Maxing out time off around the vacations.

He was speaking to the ranting First Officer.

250 pages worth.

These USAPA idiots are, as expected, going right off a cliff.

And pissing off the IAM to top it off. Randy's letter trying to suck up to the mechanics is a complete failure.

Isom's meeting, btw, broke out east and west ops for the first time. Needless to say, this injunction is only the beginning.

I read the Wall Street Journal. The west pilots make me sick, again. What a tradition of strikebreaking and working with management. They rise to the occasion each opportunity. Out of the swamp. I also read the request. What is all the hoopla for, a taxi time less than a minute more? Franke Air is disgusting. No judge will buy into their accusations. They can't take your lanyards either. They can try, laugh at them, give them out. Is the company really that anti safety that they try to time your taxi speed? Look at the America West record. The FAA almost shut them down over their repeated safety violations. Franke Air better watch their steps. Taking Safety lanyards is the first mistake. Had they been smart, they would have ignored them, now they are the laughing stock of the industry, along with the western division that is ready to cross any picket line, take managements' side in any battle. They are disgusting. Don' t try for my jumpseat if you are west.

Of course not. I'm an FO. But I broke 6 figs. Your FOs can't do that.

Way senior means you'll be gone way sooner.

Actually quite a few can and do, but when have facts ever gotten in your way? You really should do some research and not just listen to the geniuses on the AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! board and AOL.

Often well-meaning efforts to help someone with an alcohol or drug problem actually empowers them to continue their destructive behavior by allowing them to avoid the consequences of their actions. This is called "enabling."
The following questions are designed to help you decide whether or not your actions and reactions to the alcoholic might be enabling. Although the questions refer to an "alcoholic" and "him" you can substitute "DOUG" and "BOD" because the principles are the same.

When i was at work recently i witnessed an east plane sit outside of the gate for 30 seconds for no apparent reason , everything on the ramp was ready for them to turn into the gate , but nope , they just sat there spinning their engines , plane clocked in 7 minutes late ... if you guys want to keep pretending like there's no work slowdown all the company has to do is get a few people with cameras ... no one likes to be kept waiting in 100 plus degree heat ...

You are right, they should get cameras and snap all kinds of pictures because 9 times out of 10 when I arrive at the gate in CLT, and about 3 out of 10 everywhere else, the ramp is not ready to receive the aircraft and I wait for several minutes. Then, the wait for the jetway drivers, then the wait for the wheelchairs............
