What's new

THE NEW USAIRWAYS & AFA66

It is time for everyone to get a grip. I am not justifying anything, but here is one fact. They have 4 people working the P.B.

EVERYTHING is in a state of change, or if it isn't changing it probably will. So you can't expect everything to go perfectly, especially during the time of mergers.

Is it right that people haven't called you back or don't know the right answer? No, but usually, no one is going to die over it.

I can easily see the frustration for those transerfering from the East. But you have to remember that not only did you change companies, but were recalled from a furlough. Many of the problems I have seen the East people dealing with are issues that even the US/MDA group did not have figured out correctly.

Again, not to justify any problems that you all have been dealing with, but we are all people. We can either get all stressed out about it, or go with the flow. Is a personal choice.

Man, do I with that everything was cut and dry, it would make my job MUCH easier, but, that isn't the way life always goes!
Jetdude,
no offense, but its employees like yourself that justify the companies lack of repect for its employees. I mean if an employee just sits back and lets the company do whatever it wants, when it wants, at the pace they want to, and are never held accountable for their actions, they will continue to do so. Its time for a change here, and i do mean NOW.
WHO ELSE THINKS THE COMPANYS TAG LINE "WE ARE BUILDING A BETTER AIRLINE BY TAKING CARE OF OUR CUSTOMERS FIRST" IS A JOKE?

You need to wake up and smell the coffee!
Stop justifying things and DEMAND CHANGE.

xoxo, I think the furloughed FAs that went to the West are locked in to 1 year commitment and cannot accept a recall to East until that year is up.

Of course I could be wrong as I only glanced at the paper before tossing it in the trash.

Azjetdude,

Try on this scenario: I check-in for my trip 20 minutes late, I don't have my IOM and I forgot my passport. My SPV confronts me about these and I say to him/her, "Hey dude, we're involved in a big merger and we're all just people...we can either get all stressed out about it, or we can go with the flow." Do you think that this Management team would cut me slack. They expect us to be professional at all times. I expect the same of them. Quit babysitting them! They need to be held accountable!

MAA,

You are so right. If a reserve is late answering their beeper WHAM!!!! Here comes the letter, the supervisor meeting, counseling, and DCP!

The Jerry Glass school of discipline is alive and well.

Its like MAA said earlier, its like being in a twilight zone!!!!!!! especially when you have employees defending their lack of management skills...........

pOWDERPUFF IS OBviously a furloughed East F/A who came to the west. If you hate AFA and the company so much, just freaking quit. Nobody is putting a gun over your head.

How dare you tell them to quit, it doesn't matter where they came from, if the company expects professionalism from its rank and file then they had better be giving some of the same in return. PowerUp is obviously a professional that expects the same in return. From what I have read above I can possibly understand the union being hung up with other things (especially the way the West employees are treated). That being said, instead of bashing them maybe you could listen to what they are really trying to say, after all it may help make changes for the better for all of US in the long run. They are your co-worker now, not your enemy. Besides unlike some other airlines, East employees do not come from the world of "If you don't like it just quit", they do however come from the world of "If you don't like it get involved and try to make changes for the better". What we have here is the difference between Regional airline and Legacy carrier. Everyone needs to be working together to make positive changes, not working against each other and pointing fingers noting who is better and who is not.

Thanks, I am glad someone here can read between the lines....I dont know who it is harder to deal with here, the management/afa or the dang employees. It is a horrible thing that has happened to the west employee group. They have fallen into managements "trap" and are doing exactly as planned, but i digress. I wish the employee groups would come together and unite and get some backbone. Strength in numbers is HUGE.
Remember, united we stand ,....divided, we get an undeserving contract......

IpourCanNot,

The Easties can all go back East, as you suggest, if we're so unhappy. But, that's not really going to get rid of us. There is a block of 5,000 or so back East that you're eventually going to have to deal with. Why not take a moment and think about what we're asking for - ACCOUNTABILITY from management team. Is that so bad? We need you and you need US. Let's get together and start DEMANDING this from this Company!! Unfortunately in today's world, it's in the "Corporate DNA" to aggessively get everything it can from it's employees and to humiliate them. Only with a unified Labor Group will we be able to combat this!

I'm getting the impression that the westies have no backbone and are door-mats. Go with the flow, peace, sh*ts and grins, etc...I hope not

Unfortunately, we're probably going to be divided. Westies got screwed on this merger and are pissed off at the AFA especially with Pat Friend. No fence, no seniority protection etc. No wonder they can't get any volunteers at the Union office. The only ones that benefit in this merger are the Easties ( and spare me of the entitlement, I've heard it all before, sick of it and don't care)

I hope the division will not last long. I for one, hate being referred to as US east. I've always been just US Airways. The east/west automatically divides us. I don't understand the no fence/no seniority protection issue; why do you feel that it only benefits the east? Is there NO one out west that wants to come east? I think that the seniority issue was upheld according to our mutual contracts so it was definitely protected.

Demand ? We did that already and got us nothing. We demanded seniority protection, we demanded a fence. What the hell did the easties do? NOTHING! What did Pat Friend do? NOTHING.

Me too. I don't like being referred as US West either.
I hope the division will not last long too. We need to be united, not divided. People need to take a chill pill! 🙂
