Hold on Rambos!! The f/a wrote to Ask Inflight on theHub. Since we on the East have no accessibilty to the report, we can only make assumptions. Did the f/a name names? flight numbers? dates? IMO, this person shouldn't had mention any specifics...just what he/she didn't like...PERIOD!! ON THE OTHERHAND, Ask Inflight should had simply stated policy, answered the question and that's IT. They are NOT supervisors and should be the eyes and ears, but not the authority. If ANYONE is the snitch, it is the person that took the specific info (still stupid move on behalf of the f/a) and forward it to the supervisor/base manager.
I have noticed a less than cooperative spirit with Ask Inflight in the last few months. I'm not sure the said f/a was actually trying to get the f/a's in trouble because had that person made that their priority, they would had written or called PHX Inflight. The numbers are listed.
Again, I haven't read anything as we easties can't get into the sight, but when I read it was written to Ask Inflight, I just wonder if the said f/a was more stupid than mean spirited.
And, why would the West MEC president make this a huge issue...which apparently it has become?
IF the f/a intentionally wrote up instead of simply asking a question and offering specifics...which Ask Inflight DOES request...than shame on him. If not, let this be a warning. If you have a concern on the east side and use Ask Inflight, do NOT be specifics.
Please note that the "owned and operated by America West Airlines" comment was due to the FACT that it is printed on our planes. It was tongue and cheek. NO ONE SHOULD WRITE UP ANOTHER FLIGHT ATTENDANT. EVER....This thread is a good example of how half truths can create a bad reputation.
The real truth to this letter is that it was recieved by inflight policies and procedures thru the askinflight email. NO name was published as to who the east FA is,who sent the email. Kirk is one of the analyst who checks the emails and responds/forwards them to the appropriate department to answer.
I agree that the west crew should not have added the owned/operated by America West Airlines. We are now almost 2 years into the merger and this who aquired who needs to stop and stop now. If we spent as much energy on the contract talks and forming unity between east and west FA's we would become a formatable workforce. If we choose to continue dividing the two groups we all will loose.
Only you and you alone choose you attitude. No one else can dictate that. Not me, your family, the company, the union or your friends.
Kind Regards.
Forgot your meds today? So the whole post is a fraud. It looks like the Westies are looking to be offended; the only problem is the entire premise of the post is incorrect. It matters not if Kirk was an F/A or "policies and procedures" he is not East but West, thus the whole post is moot.

Ok, lets put this issue to rest RIGHT NOW.
Here is what happened. The person that started this thread got it from the union board (most likely) and the person that put it on the union board announced this headline as though there should should be some retaliation.
One person in management sent an e-mail to FA's that perform onboard training as well as FA's that perform line checks to help explain that a "must read" (west) is needed to remind FA's.
A letter was received via the HUB that a former PSA FA was concerned about hearing the verbiage "owned and operated by America West Airlines" (sorry cactus flyer, your reference to this was not correct) when west FA's were making announcements while this FA commuted. The FA NEVER MADE REFERENCE TO SPECIFIC CREWS OR FLIGHTS they simply stated "over the past several months".
They were concerned about the divide that this creates, especially in the wake of lowered morale.
The training department said in the e-mail that they will need to do a "must read" reminding the make announcements verbatim. Also...in this letter, asked the line check FA's to see how often this type of announcement is made. One FA in the west decided she would post "parts" of this on the union website and did end up getting people worked up.
This whole situation made it as far as corporate and thats why I'm now trying to explain the real truth here. There was no "writing up" This was simply a letter that was "a concern". Thats all it was. The person that posted this to the union board is unprofessional.
I'd imagine the FAA would frown upon making up your own ownership in announcements. "Welcome aboard US Airways. A subsidiary of Emirates."
Well, based on the info provided HERE- I really don't FAULT the East F/A that ADDRESSED the ISSUE through the appropriate channel (Ask Inflight, Suprv etc.)....USAirways is NOT Owned and Operated by AWA by A-N-Y stretch of the imagination. If the crewmember that made the announcement thought they were being Cute, funny or simply being a smart *ss, then they DESERVE to be b*tch slapped in a FORMAL Manner. (I can assure YOU that IF the commuter would have addressed the PA at the time of deplanement WITH THE CREW, the situation would be ugly and confrontational....we all know how SOME people can't take any criticism). And the notion of a F/A NEVER writing up another F/A is PURE BULLSH*T......BE an Adult, Act Professional and Don't P*ss Me off to make me NEED to Write YOU UP and STOP LOOKING The Other Way when you see Coworkers behaving BADLY. (In 27 years I have written UP ONE person......he's lucky I didn't Kill the SOB!)To clarify, here is what happened...
1. A SAN commuter from the east wrote up a west crew for "non verbatim" announcement. Specifically, they referenced the flight being operated by America West Airlines.
2. Said SAN commuter wrote it up via the "ask inflight" forum on the hub.
3. Kirk K. who works in Inflight Policies and Procedures at the sand castle received the "write-up" and forwarded it to PHX inflight. Yes, he is a former west FA, but he didn't write the write up. To be clear the SAN commuter from the east did the writing up, including date, flight number etc.
4. Said west crew were called in and were disciplined. I believe the union is grieving this, but I'm not sure.
So, the moral of the story is, east or west, we shouldn't write each other up. That is why we have professional standards. Just in case the easties haven't caught on yet, the inflight management team you gained via this merger is NOTORIOUS for nailing FA's for the smallest, most stupid thing. All the while they over look the bigger issues/problems we are dealing with on line. Not surprising since most of them have never flown the line themselves. Welcome to the family! 😉
To the SAN commuter who did this, you ma'am are a coward.
Would this not best be handled through the union? Is that not the recommended course suggested BY the union. I hope your commuting goes just fine. Those in glass houses... And since we are talking about not pi$$ing people off, why not remind everyone about being a good commuter. Not being in the way and pi$$ing people off, being grateful for the ride and thanking people.BE an Adult, Act Professional and Don't P*ss Me off to make me NEED to Write YOU UP and STOP LOOKING The Other Way when you see Coworkers behaving BADLY. (In 27 years I have written UP ONE person......he's lucky I didn't Kill the SOB!)
Let me just say, I am embarressed the fact one of our West flight attendants would, and contiunue to think it is okay to say owned and operated by AWA. I can see why this flight attendant on the East was offended.
Read my response about this. I work in corporate and am well aware of this situation that is nothing more than pieces of a letter that got blown out of proportion by a female FA in the west.
Remember...KIRK... IS NOT THE PERSON BEHIND THE LETTER!!! HE IS THE PERSON THAT ANSWERS THE LETTERS THAT ARE SUBMITTED TO THE COMPANY VIA THE HUB, HE GOT DRAGGED INTO THIS BY SIMPLY DOING HIS JOB!!! PROVIDING FEEDBACK TO MANAGEMENT, MOST OF THIS STUFF IS NOT ACCURATE OR TRUE.
PLEASE BELIEVE ME.
Does Kirk have orange hair? I think i've flown with him in the past.
Sure, I've read through this soap opera. I know Kirk didn't do the writing up, but rather is a former west fa in management. I just wondered if he had orange hair, if he does then he is who I think he is, not that that matters. Never mind, ladies have at it, just ignore me.Have you read anything but the openning post?
