Transatlantic Schedule 2010

Starting up and Reducing internationally flying is a way to keep the market presence suppliers/vendors slots etc.

like normal airlines???? My aren't you the funny one! 🙄

Flying to half of its European destinations for only few month a year is not the hallmark of a serious international carrier. CO serves some fairly small European markets such as BRS (Bristol) and manages to do so year round. It seems that US should be able to so with the likes of ATH and ZRH, even if just 4 times a week.

If it makes more money to a route only a few months of the year, why wouldn't one fly it only a few monhs of the year?

CO makes smaller European markets work but they also seasonally cut service. EWR-FCO is 2x daily in the summer and 5x weekly in the winter. PHL-FCO is daily year round, with maybe a month or so of reduced service

CO doesn't exactly have the market to itself like US does in Philly. Alitalia flies from both EWR & JFK while AA and Delta also fly to FCO from JFK.
